Was watching baseball tonight last night before the Mets vs Braves game and they were talking about how much of an off year it is for starting pitching in the NL and they were pushing pretty hard that Chapman or Kimbrel should win the Cy Young. Schilling wouldn't commit saything if they deserved it sure. I pretty much had the idea that the people in ESPN were XXXXing idiots myself.

Schilling wont commit to anything anymore.

Last time he committed to something it cost over $100 million dollars

His teammate Johnny Cueto has a great shot, but Chapman or Kimbrel won't win teh Cy Young. That one bad week he had earlier in the year with the blown saves will keep him from even being in the discussion. He has been the most dominant pitcher I have ever seen this year, but not a Cy Young Winner. Too many good starting pitchers like Cueto, Dickey, Cain, Vogelsong, Zimmerman, etc.

One bad week? And at the beginning of the season? Are you serious? Everyone has one bad week. The Cy Young is for the entire season.
Anyway, I'd give it to R.A. Dickey right now.
15-3 and leading the league in strikeouts, and fourth in ERA.

Of course everyone has one bad week. I was just saying that in order for a reliever to overtake starters having great seasons, he would need to be flawless. And Chapman did have a week earlier this year where he blew 3 straight saves. He is still having an unbelievable season, but IMO that week will keep him from really being in the discussion for Cy Young. His save % would have to be near perfect for him to win.

Chapman is not even the best pitcher on his team.

That I don't necessarily believe. While I hate the closer position with a passion as being completely overblown, to have 11 fewer strike outs than the Ace of the staff is fairly impressive especially in 104 fewer innings. It's also fairly impressive that in the entire National League he is 33rd overall in strikeouts (55th in the MLB). The next highest reliever is Kenley Jansen at 103rd

I'm all for closers that are dominant winning the Cy Young in a year full of mediocre starting pitching. That just isn't the case this year. There are way too many studs in the NL.
