I see three Phillies in this picture...can anyone identify who they are?

(Top left, top right (cut off), and 3rd row left)

Ok, answering my own question. Top right is Brian Pointer. Middle left is Carlos Valenzuela (WHO?). Still trying to find top left.

It's the Red Waves from the new BC...Topps won't release a prospect checklist, so I'm trying to figure out the Phils from the sheets they put on Facebook.

There is also this:560598_206474679485344_1742335734_n.jpg

Every new release of BC just reminds me how poor our system is right now. If Maikel Franco is the best we've got in this release then we are in really bad shape.

There's Trevor May......

Yes, the system is bad at the low levels right now.

And the mid levels.

And upper levels.

It's Ruf, Cloyd, Biddle, Adam Morgan, Cody Asche... that's about it.

The Phillies' are fortunate to be one of the few teams that doesn't need a good minor league system, because they have the money to buy the players they need, like the Yankees and Dodgers.
Of course, it's great to have a good mix of free agents and homegrown talent, and the Phillies don't have a future Hamels, Howard, Rollins or Utley in their system.

I disagree. Any of the players I mentioned, or Larry Greene, or Franco, or Sebastian Valle, or Tommy Joseph, or Ethan Martin, or a few others, could be a superstar.

I liked the pickups of Joseph and Martin in those trades. Those were nice acquisitions. Valle had a great year in 2011...not as exciting this year. The rest are just hopes at this point in my opinion. When it comes down to it, I'd be a lot happier with our system if we could just rewind the clock and undo the Hunter Pence trade. That one in particular burns more than any other. Sure we gave up a lot of Halladay, but he's at least been worth it...can't say that Pence was at all.
