Yeah, considering I don't expect to see another one of these come around anytime soon, I felt I had to go for it.

How much was it if you don't mind sharing? Still trying to guage prices on these. Have never seen a red Cirillo :(

It was $15, so full BV. More than I prefer to pay for one card, but part of that $15 was money I made selling some cards, and I also managed to pick up a Randy Johnson Red for next to nothing, so it was certainly a good deal in my eyes. I thought nothing of paying $8 for a Jason Kendall Red recently, so I would say fair prices on these are whatever you need to pay to get them.

Haha yeah I would be good with $15. I expected a Grace to be a bit higher but I suppose it goes up quickly with each class

I had a feeling the McGwire might go high. When I was selling off my extras I got more questions about if I had a McGwire than any other player. Surprised the Thomas only went for $49

I dropped a bomb on this and someone still came over the top. Hopefully this brings out some more, and hope some of you guys were able to get your player: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1997-TOPPS-PROSHOOTERS-MARBLE-MARK-MCGWIRE-41-OF-60-RARE-TEST-ISSUE-MARBLES-/251160235595?pt=US_Baseball&hash=item3a7a510e4b

How much cheaper would those marbles be if they weren't on the almighty Beckett checklist? Think of all the pins, pocket folders, etc. that people don't even think of collecting but these marbles (and similar items like bookmarks, pencils, etc. that aren't really cards) are hunted simply because Beckett put them in their database. Sure they are actually pretty rare, but.....its a marble

The fact that they were issued by topps gives them a little more collectibility though.

Are you sure they are on player checklists? Albert Belle is on one of these marbles and it doesn't show up as one of his 2,616 "cards".

They are definitely listed on the Beckett database, under 1997 Topps Proshooters Marbles. I still need the Larkin, although I do have the cheklist with him on it (the checklists are not in the database though).

Here is the Albert Belle listing:
1997 Topps Marbles #5 Albert Belle

Beckett shows Albert Belle as having 2,616 cards, which is consistent with my master checklist. This is not reflected, so not sure what is going on.

What I would tell you is I've passed up on the Belle marble because it isn't on his list lol... one recently sold for $20, so maybe the next one to spike on eBay will be less than

THe marble isn't on my Gwynn checklist, either, but I do still pick up things that aren't on the official checklist. THat being said...it's a marble. There are 6,500 other Gwynn "cards" out there that I would rather pick up than this. It would have to be a pretty good deal, that's for sure. And don't even get me started on the checklist...::facepalm::

**edited to add that I have no problem with people collecting the marble, and the set actually looks nice all together. Just not my thing. Now if I could find an uncracked Tony Gwynn Slurpee cup...that'd be cool!
