BOOM! Mailday from yesterday :) I am VERY happy with this card especially for the price I won it for. I even scanned the back...really miss the wording like this one has:

Good Mor...Afternoon All,

Thought I would pitch an ongoing thread idea for FCB to it's closest knit group. Before Mr. Hope started pumping out quality threads faster than flies reproducing, I had an idea to bring a sense of community back to the board. I know, you're probably thinking one of two things:

1. Wait jbhofmann the sarcastic ass wants to do something nice?
2. Who the hell is jbhofmann?

Well about a month ago I asked Mike (200lbhockeyplayer) if he could help and to my great amusement he obliged. I sent off my HOF cut auto to Mike and he recently hammered out a mock of what the front will look like. As always, his work never disappoints.

To the point:
My plan is to offer this HOF cut auto up to anyone who wants it for FREE. I want to "Pay It Forward" to someone on the boards. The only thing I ask is that we as a community try to keep the thread going. To keep the generosity and goodwill alive, the person who takes the card would be asked to "Pay It Forward" for someone else by placing another card/s up for the taking.

When I get the finished product back, I'll create a new thread on the main board. I'm pretty pumped about it and hope this idea takes off and can have continued success.

Thanks,
Joel

p.s- If you are wondering who the HOFer is, I left a clue above.

I plan to run some contests here soon myself, now that my scanner is back. Many will likely be football, but free is free.

I talk to Mike and we catch up via pm when he is free to do so, and I'd be very interested to see what he made for you.

kudos to you jb!

If I am understanding correctly, you are hoping to start a chain of free cards correct?

If that is the case, I am very interested in participating.

(Either way, I have some football to give away but I will join the fun here as well)

I had an idea. It probably wouldn't work, but I've seen it done before in other places.

Somebody offers up a box of singles. A mixture of autographs, game used, numbered stuff, etc.

Then, we all signup and exchange addresses. Each person takes X amount of cards out of the box, replaces them (equal quantity unless the card is really thick), and sends the box onward until the box comes back around.

The Rickey collectors did this a while back with great success. Every stop the receiver posts they have it in hand and they were required to post the Priority tracking DC when they mailed it back out.
