I don't think this set would even be allowed by MLB. They have the "rules" in place about prospect cards not being allowed to be a part of any base set. Well, this idea is entirely a base set of prospects = not allowed.

They could always avoid this bit of red tape with a small, say, 20-card "vet" (or highlights) set, with the rest being considered inserts.

I say make it a true "Update" Bowman set, covering the All Star game and trade deadline; and make it a "paper" base stock, and use the standard "paper" parallels, blue/500, orange/250, red/1.

Then, for the prospectors, have a Futures Game set, and make 1 card chrome, being the autograph. That ensures that you don't get as many scrubs in the checklist, it gives a "variation" on someone's autograph (as opposed to a simple repeat, Scooter Gennett, Dustin Ackely, Lotzkar, etc.), and you can still have refactor versions (I'm thinking regular, REF/500, blue/250 and super/1).

The fact that Topps uses the Futures Game should make getting all the autographs pretty easy. The only problem I could see is that the flash-to-bang time on Futures roster announcements and getting the cards printed up might be too short, meaning we'd have sticker autos :(

Selling Bowman sets this way (or any way) would be an interesting test for Topps. Bowman sets aren't sold at Target or anywhere else, I think we know why.

I'd imagine there'd have to be (really) significant incentive beyond the base set to get people to buy into it.

Its also interesting to consider which (if any) other base sets would sell well. Seems that base Topps and Heritage already do.

What about Bowman Mini? Same set as Bowman...smaller size. For me, I was not a fan of the "set" release with Heritage, but I love the "pack" release that they did with Topps Mini. Maybe a small run of Bowman Mini with a slightly different parallel scheme for the autos?

Enough with the mutual jerk off session. Heritage sets will not stay at $200. This is no different than the initial listing of any chrome product. The demand will certainly die down.

I love this guy!

Exclusivity rules indeed! Keep offering online only products until there's like 5 LCS's left on earth, then give those 5 exclusive products! Love it!

Love you too, Warren, ever since the RCCD days.

I"m all for eliminating the LCSs. They serve little purpose, really, and in many ways, discourage folks from the hobby with high prices (justified given the expenses, but still...)

I'm at the point in my life where I don't have 30 minutes to shoot the **** with a shop owner (and I actually like my LCS owner) - and I haven't been in an LCS in about a year or so. If I want to buy something, I do it online.

You have no use for a LCS, so you want them eliminated entirely? What about all the other people in the world who use and love their LCS? XXXX on them because you think differently? You are out of your mind. What a stupid thing to say.

They can stay around. I just am 100% in favor of direct sales from the manufacturer to the collector, which de facto eliminates the LCS. So, if they can survive, despite direct sales, huzzah. Otherwise, yes, piss on the LCS.
