These new TV contracts are really going to suck going forward for small market teams. I really hope we end up with 3 to 5 years of Angels vs. Dodgers in the WS and terrible TV ratings, then maybe we will really talk about revenue sharing in MLB on par with the NFL.

MLb tv ratings have been dropping for years and can't be compared to games 20 yrs ago. Many more people wathcing tv and 100's more channels and things to watch. IMO baseball fans shouldn't care about tv ratings. This was started by the yanks. First the red sox decided to try to keep up and now many others are trying. You can't really fault the teams with TV revenue coming in, to try to get the big names. It sells tickets, which sells beer and dogs. How many hamilton angels jerseys will be sold over the next few weeks? How many season tics will be sold this week? I'd rather there be 6-8 teams spending big than just 1 or 2. It was getting old, wondering who the yanks or sox were gonna play in the series. Im sure nolan will repsond with a big move and keep this all going.

All that said, I'd love a floor/cap in baseball. But the MLBPA will never allow it and a few owners would probably be against it too.

Noooooooooooooooooo!
And to the Rangers' main rival.
My two favorite Rangers, Hamilton and Young, gone within a week.

Not a huge Rangers fan (Red Sox), but I root for them and watch them a good bit. Those were my favorites too. Happy for both of them and their future outlooks though. Now do they really put on the full court press for J Upton?

World series ratings going back to 1984. This year was the worst of all time. At the time yanks/mets was the worst of all time, 2 years later, angels giants was worst of all time. This year was much worse. There is just a lot more going on for baseball to compete with 13 channels in 1984. In 1984 you where watching news, m*a*s*h*, or baseball.

Just read this in a report.

"In recent days, there had been speculation that the Texas Rangers would re-sign Hamilton. And he promised to allow them to match any offer he received from another team. However, FoxSports.com reports that didn't happen once he reached the deal with the Angels."

I'm guessing he was upset about the upton situation and this taking so long.

This is not good for baseball, period.
Football is about the only sport worth a damn anymore. Look at the parity, it is good for the sport.
NBA, unwatchable with all the Super Teams now, baseball is next.

I didn't see this coming. If they signed him, they must be talking trade with trumbo, kendry, bourjos, wells going somewhere for a pitcher.

Being reported by buster olney.

Jaypers beat me to the punch. I hate that guy. Just because he is a bowman scout, he thinks he knows everything.

 I laughed b/c I think you were being facetious. At least I think.

On a side note, HOLY FREAKING CRAP

Thanks man. I feel our fcb relationship has come a long way. Jaypers knows I was kidding. And also knows, I have lots of respect for him.

Your quote is like TROUTS tweet "WOW"

I wonder if the Hamilton collectors dump his cards now that hes on a rival team. I couldnt keep my Adrian Gonzalez cards when he was traded to the doyers.

A great comment, so what you are saying is that you hope Josh Hamilton is a mentor to Mike Trout. I mean you lose Torii Hunter now who does he have to go to.

If I have to explain to you why it was dumb, than the comment is even dumber than I thought.

Amazing they have the money for this, esp because they're still paying that bum Wells like $18 million a year right?

They have to trade him. But who's going to take him? Angels need to eat a lot of the salary to do it. I would NOT trade Trumbo if I were the Angels. Yes he was atrocious the last part of the season, but he doesn't cost much and he could hit another 30 HR hitting 6th.

I would try and trade Morales and Bourjos for a SP and Vernon Wells for some Christmas cookies for the staff party.

Bourjos, Morales, and Travis Witherspoon for R.A. Dickey!

When was the last time one of these big spender teams won a World Series? 09 Yankees? Someone on the radio was saying that over the last 20 or 25 years there have been more different teams win the world series than there have teams win the NBA fineals, Super Bowl and Stanley Cup.
