So I have a store, and I've been listing like crazy. I'm going away for 10 days coming up here soon, and I'm going to shut down my store, which in 6 years of having a store I've never done.

My question is: when you reopen your store, does it basically "relist" everything, or does it pick up where it left off? For example, if I end and relist all of my items on December 19th, and close my store on December 20th, if I reopen my store on the 1st will I still have 20 days on all my listings (giving me a few extra "free" days on my listings)? Does what I'm asking make sense?

Just set your vaction settings to away. Your listing will still be live but there will be a note on the listing that you will not return until a certain date. When you return everything will still be active.

I don't want to do that because then people will buy and get upset that it takes so long for me to ship. I've had that problem before. Also the shipping time will effect my top rated status if I'm not uploading tracking within a day. Doesn't matter if vacation settings are on, it still drags down the percentage.

From my experience, a buyer can't buy something from a seller that is "away". I tried hitting a BIN once where it said the seller is away until (whatever) date, and ebay blocked me from doing that, then a message comes up that says this listing is currently unavailable, or something to that effect. This item was on my watch list at the time, and it actually didn't even come up in regular search when I typed it in. I eventually bought the item when the seller's away status expired without a problem.

So I think once you set yourself to away, all your listings become "invisible" to search, and "inactive" to anyone watching them on their watch list until the setting expires.

Then again, if you're really worried that someone would still be able to hit a BIN while you're away, you can always end all your listings using the multi-list tool and re-list everything at once after you return.
