Buying back old cards, stamping a "low" number on the cards, and repackaging seems to be a scam to me. I'm staying far away from this product.

Most practices of all manufacturers are pretty disturbing these days. Leaf has not done anything that other companies haven't done over the past 5 years.

A Frank Thomas just sold for $250. You don't need Trout and Harper for this product to sell well.

Who cares? Autographed Trout and Harper prospect/ RC/ whatever cards are everywhere.

I know pretty much every company has done buyback autos, but has any company stamped "regular" cards with low serial numbers or 1/1s? I know Fleer did some in basketball, just curious if others have done it.

Yeah, kinda crappy. You turn a 25 cent base card of Gwynn into a card someone is asking 400 dollars for on ebay because it says 1/1 in red on it now lol

Like putting a different background on card, stamp 1/1 and have it sell for thousands.
Exactly. To me it's no different then all the use of colored refractors and colored parallels.

I think some people need to to take a step back and ask themselves about value as a basic concept and what makes an item valuable.
I can easily find a photo of Albert Pujols from 2001. I can write a little scouting report and some stats on the back of it. Then I can get him to sign it at spring training. So why do people pay more for the one made by Topps with the Bowman logo on it? Doesn't make a lot of sense from any logical point of view.
Speaking to this board: What is a superfractor and why is it valuable? Tell my why it is worth hundreds or thousands but one of these stamped "buy backs" from Leaf isn't (intrinsically and/or generally, not why you do or do want either). I would like to hear it.

Usually Topps, Panini and UD don't "buy back" all the cards from just 1 set. This product only takes a few cases to get all the stamped cards needed to fill the boxes.
