OMG!!! That board is loaded with SUPER DUCKS and by that I mean replace the U in ducks with an I!!! Holy cow. I'll NEVER post there again or deal there. I can't believe the comments those people make about others. Whatever happened to supporting your fellow collector! That kid was seriously taken for a ride and people just want to kick him in the head.
I know I'll get flamed for this, but it couldn't have happened to a more deserving group of people. Every time I go on the BO boards I feel like I just walked into a high school jock party full of idiot kids trying to be cool. In no trading card forum is there a worse mix of terrible moderation, authoritarian rules, kids, idiots and a-holes. A scam like this would never get that far here on FCB.
I read a mod post that they did not see he was selling mystery packs or else they would have been pulled. I find it hard to believe with how BO is moderated, that none of their moderators saw the sales and if they saw the sales that none of them took action as it is clearly against their ToS.

Could we infer that he had an accomplice or two?
Well someone on there keeps bringing up a good point...apparently he spoke negatively of Haiku and one of the mods deleted the posts, he keeps pleading his case but isn't getting much recognition and one mod has briefly posted but hasn't addressed him. I doubt they were in on it, highly doubt at that. Seems like everyone literally became blind because this guy gave away a few hundred dollars worth of free stuff. If I didn't have a big obligation to a board member maybe I'd buy a few mystery lots from a trusting member, I used to break a ton just because I like surprises. If an established board member on here created mystery lots and was known for throwing in let's say $400 in a $300 lot, I'm ashamed to say I might take that deal just because it's fun to open a nice lot of cards not knowing which nice card you'll land lol.
At this point it doesnt really matter if that guy figured it out. It's easy to say that stuff after the fact.
From what i've read, it's more than a few hundred dollars and probably closer to $10,000 of free stuff he gave away.
Trusting people is how you end up scammed. We are a great community but even as Chris said, no one is immune to scammers.
I hope this serves as a lesson for people to a) never buy mystery lots from anybody b) never send a gift payment you arent willing to lose and c) if it seems to good to be true, it is.
These are all common sense things but yet we are discussing them again
Well from what I've read the amazing deal with two beats headphones for $1 each (could have been counterfeited or stolen) and a Drew Brees patch auto, for $10, probably a $100-$120 card tops IMO. Other than that apparently he had some who claim the deals were very nice (i.e. $400 SV in $300 lot) and other who claimed he sold then a $20 ebay card for $40. All in all, yes up until the scam I would believe he was in the red although there are accusations of the Brees being stolen...but now...he's in the black for tens of thousands so that leads me to believe he's either a highly-skilled professional or in cahoots with others who aren't first-timers
It's amazing to me how blindly and willingly people sent money to this guy for "mystery lots".
I'm surprised the guy didnt just send a bunch of common cards to everybody who bought with signature confirmation and cleaned out his accounts before people could file chargebacks.
He would have had proof that everyone signed for their packages and nearly it would have been impossible for paypal to side with the buyers on an off ebay transaction.
Would have been alot better for him than to just disappear.
I never like to see people get scammed but I dont feel sorry for these guys that did. Not because they are dicks or ******** or anything, but because of how stupid they were to just hand over a lot of money to this guy.
Doesn't matter how nice or generous he seemed, the clues and hints were there all along that he was probably laundering money and passing along stolen cards from one guy to the next but people chose to ignore that because hey, free cards. Now, a lot of people are paying the price.
From what i've read (I didnt read all, way too long) the mods never said anything or banned him for selling mystery lots because no member reported it to a mod. Would not surprise me at all if one or more mods was in on it though. I have no proof of that, but, just personal opinion.
I like how that scumbag- WilsonValdez is all over the thread speaking of his "sleuthing" skills. WilsonValdez is just a big of a scumbag as Haiku is. Your reputation follows you around the internet forever.. no matter how long it has been. Anyone want details? pm me!
I also like this quote from him on another thread.
"Although the last part about him actually going to Hong Kong is up in the air, the rest I would stake my reputation on"
The repuation for being an obnoxious troll that thrusts himself into every bit of drama on those boards?
It does not surprise me in the least that this idiot has multiple posts in just about every Haiku thread over there!
Just go away already.
