Yep.

Mentioned it above, Haiku could have just used sig confirmation on every package and sent a ton of commons.

Since the transactions were done off eBay, they dont offer the same protection and would have, more than likely, sided with the seller.

However, after the flood of claims come in, im guessing paypal would have frozen his account.

But let's be honest, if this guy is as good a scammer as advertised, he would have delayed shipping a few days so he could transfer all the money out of paypal and into his bank. After that, he would close his paypal account. By the time the claims come in and people collectively realize they've been had his accounts are closed and money is gone while paypal is left to deal with the aftermath; which would probably entail telling people they took the risk buying off eBay and would not be covered.

I dont know why he chose to just disappear unless he is leaving the country for good.

Well that's the beauty of it you'll really love this part. Lots sold on Dec. 10, according to trusted blowout members he had a business paypal account meaning he could withdraw up to something like $100,000 or even unlimited 8 days following payment. Haiku conveniently gave the board notice of his disappearance on Dec. 18, exactly 8 days after the last payment was ever sent to him. What's likely to happen is the money has been sent to a bank account, that bank account has been stripped of everything, Haiku closed it, and the paypal account will simply have a huge negative balance. Very, very, very well thought out scheme. Also, a member who kept in frequent contact with him got a text from Haiku from his new phone and the texts said that everyone would be refunded and he is well aware that if he wanted to scam people he could simply have sent them boxes with commons but he does not intend on doing that because the buyers will be refunded. One buyer did say his $350 lot was shipped and he got tracking for it, but cannot tell if he was being sarcastic or not.

As to the guy on here who bought a lot from him for $124 and received those cards, doesn't seem like complete a rip-off...some common star player autographs...but nowhere in the vicinity of something you could double your money on I'd bet you wouldn't even recoup the initial investment unless he gave you the $100 coupon (don't think you should be on the lookout for it). But consider yourself lucky considering the amount of coin some gave him

That's crazy!

I doubt anyone will see that money back any time soon unless this guy is charged with something.

They edited the post and said they were refunded.

Hmm interested first denied then refunded...good for him. I remember it being a couple hundred. Wonder how paypal will respond to reversing 11K in disputes

Someone needs to add the new twist to the original story. There is a member on BO that is claiming a lot of the cards sold by HAIKU are his. It looks like the scam got more elaborate, as it seems the member has ties to HAIKU! It is a huge mess over there at the moment!.. also.. does anyone know why gatorboy or whatever was banned over there?

Most of the cards Haiku peddled are/were probably stolen.

He sent them all over the country so the chances of them being found would be near zero.

Apparently he did just that.

I read all 54 pages of the main thread, and most of the other ones, just because my kid was at school and I've been bored. Lol.

He was getting payments on the 10th and telling people he couldn't ship things until the 18th. That's just enough time to clear paypal transfers to his bank. He was telling people he was waiting for cards to get back from BGS. Yet nobody picked up on anything.

Edit: homerun spelled this out earlier, I should have refreshed before posting.

My first ever attempt at a Haiku.

Selling cardboard dreams.
Strangers trust, Hong Kong or bust.
PayPal gift. Winning.
