Got an odd call this morning, from Beckett Grading Services offering a deal. Funny thing is that I have never graded a card, and haven't really thought about submiting something other than pre-war vintage. When I let the rep know I had no desire to grade cards at this time they hung up. Anyone else receive a cold call this morning?

Strange.

I know beyond the shadow of a doubt they are busier than ever.

I got a call a couple of years ago from an outside salesperson from BGS. Joe Clemons told me that they use them to drive business from people who don't usually submit.

This seems to happen every once in awhile based on various postings on various message boards over the past couple of years. Personally, I've only gotten one of these calls once a few years back, though that may have been for a subscription.

They have been doing this for the last 3 years. As Lisa said they call people that haven't submitted in a while to try to get them going again. I'm surprised they're still doing this considering how busy they are.

Well, I tend to agree. When they have cards in their hands for 5 months+ and in some cases much longer, they shouldn't be hiring people to cold call searching for more business. Keep your customers, and keeping them happy, etc. is much cheaper than looking for new business. As someone who has been in a sales environment for over 10 years, this is sales and business 101.

I agree with both of you guys and I'm sure a lot of the folks at the Dallas BGS office would as well.

I only submit cards RCR when the shop back home in San Antonio has a grading there, but I'd take a shot if they sent me a deal.

Don't they always get cards back on time? Can't really hate on a business for trying to make more money. Loved the repeat customer deal they had in December, worked out to $10 per card/10 days.

On their guaranteed turn around times, they are pretty darn good.

I got a call and I've never submitted anything to BGS or subscribed to the magazine. They must have my number from the BMB days?
