Apparently a deal was done with Seattle but Upton had a limited no trade of only five teams or so which included the Mariners, and he wouldn't go.

He's got to be better than Matt Diaz. The Braves are really going to miss Chipper this year. They can't possibly stand pat on that scrub they got from Cincy last seasonat 3B.

am going to guess the Braves have to part with a combination of Teahren, Gattis, Gilmartin, and La Stella and one of the bullpen people like Walden or Gearrin.

i doubt that Wren would move Walden so soon after acquiring him. I would bet that the deal includes Teheran (that is a given), Graham (good prospect but tops out at a potential #2 starter), and a position player (from what I have heard Nick Ahmed is a likely candidate, in case gregorios bottoms out).
Just my 2 cents, but this trade is great for the Braves in the present, but will be detrimental for our future should we not secure J-Up long term.

Getting Upton means you have one year of McCann or Prado left. No way you can resign both next year. On the flip side, you have this for three plus years:

Upton, Upton, Heyward, Freeman, Simmons, Beachy, Medlen, Minor, and Kimbrel
