I would take Baez over Lindor today but lindor is an 18 year older with an advanced eye at the plate and other than plus power, is a hell of a prospect. I have substantial stashes of both but Lindors plate discipline for such a young age is hard to ignore...
Arenado really not in the top 100?
agreed. personally i'd have them just a spot or 2 apart, with the slight nod to Baez. probably would both be at the back end of my top 10

Haven't multiple people in the scouting world called out how big the holes are in Baez's swing?
I never cared for Lindor. His ISO is just terrible. I mean, he barely hits doubles let alone anything more. I think he will be a quality MLB regular, but I would hardly call his hit tool anything other than average. If he hit doubles with more regularity and maybe some of those doubles became HR, you could see some power potential. But a .355 SLG is just low for anyone being called a top prospect.
He's basically a one year younger Ronald Torreyes, and Torreyes gets no prospect love, despite playing at a less offensive-value position.
I'll take Torreyes over Lindor.

This is my opinion as well. I don't want to discount his excellent glove, but a glove alone doesn't make you a top prospect. He hasn't proved anything on offense. Unless he improves the bat significantly, I don't see how he hits anywhere but the bottom of a Major League lineup.
The less buying the better.
Lindor will play another year as a teenager and his approach will need some adjusting but I love following a prospect with the plate discipline he has. Which is the exact reason i'm concerned about Baez...

Lindor is talked about like he's Alcides Escobar 2.0; which is only significant b/c KLaw went out of his way to trash A.E. with virtually the same write-up and reasoning.

Ronald Torreyes 2011 season was in the same league, at the same age (18/19), and markedly better. He regressed to the mean this year, at a higher level of competition. And still had lindors numbers.

Your assessment is a denial of pedigree. Lindor was picked as high as he was based on that particular pedigree.
What pedigree? His ability in high school? Hiprojectability? Is he the heir to the truffle fortune?

I agree with just about everything you've said in this thread. People become so enamored with rookie ball and low-A statistics that it inhibits them from creating a full profile of a prospect. Profar didn't light the world on fire his first chance at pro ball. Not saying Lindor is Profar but the kid is tooled up, has good instincts, plate discipline, pretty swing, and should develop into a solid hitter as well as having outstanding SS chops.
Also have a deep stash of Lindor and Baez so rooting for both. However, I saw Baez up close this year (AFL) and am much more concerned with the type of hitter Javier will become due to the same concerns you pointed out. Baez has a much higher ceiling but comes with a lot more question marks than Lindor. There is little doubt Lindor will be a SS on a MLB roster in a few years, can't say the same for Baez.

Not a fan of his obvious ego in the chat...he seems like he has an "I'm right, the rest of the world is wrong" attitude about every single questions on there.
Aside from that, I still don't buy his explanation for Arenado's complete omission.

eh, its not even worth it. my assessment is based on scouting and the fact that 18 year olds tend to struggle at those levels. If you want to look at the numbers and say he's not much of anything, thats great...
