A while back I posted about my replacement saga re: a Pedro Alvarez Marquee Museum /10 replacement and a triple threads sepia auto.

I received: Austin Jackson TTT jersey auto /99 for the TTT sepia

Sticker Gold Rush Giancarlo Stanton auto /70.

I'm cool with the Jackson. The Stanton is insulting. When the guy said sticker, I said it had to be trout, harper or a low numbered veteran star. He agreed with me that it would be. Ridiculous. Those 2011 Marquee Museums are iconic cards. Gold rush autos are not. Not close in numbering. Sticker. I'll be lucky to get $35 for it. Suffice to say, the marquee museums, even of average players, sell for much more.

For those that have returned replacements, how did you do it?

In any event, sorry Topps you lost me as a primary market customer.

It's Pedro Alvarez, why would you expect Trout or Harper in return? There are no closed or open auctions for the Stanton Gold Rush autos so I'm guessing you could do pretty well on it for those looking to put the set together. I'd say it's pretty close in value to the Alvarez although you are right I personally would much rather have the museum collection auto.

I would only expect it because the guy on the phone told me it would happen. I think I said Stanton for on-card.

Yeah, in looking at these maybe this is an equally valued card. If the Marquee are only selling for $45, I'll assume I can get around that for this. I guess its just the shock of the Museums being so friggin gorgeous that makes me disappointed. I mean, I'm not complaining about the Austin Jackson by any stretch. It's just going from iconic on card /10 to sticker /70 that irks me.

Whatever, I'm selling the pair. And most certainly not buying any topps redemptions, haha.

I think the replacements you got are fair, value wise. I'm waiting on 2011 Museum auto redemptions of Ozzie Smith and Eddie Murray. I don't know when I'll get them, if ever. Not sure I want to get them replaced either, since I'll probably get junk:(.

Yeah, maybe I got off better than I thought. I don't know with these things. Honestly, it's less the cards I got than the things I learned from the topps people that make me want to not buy their products anymore. Inserting redemptions for players you haven't even started contract negotiations with? Pass.

The whole redemption process is just wrong. If you don't have a player inked to sign by release don't put them on the checklist. If you do have to at least tier the players so equal value is there.

I realize all companies do it.. But it's just crap.

Exactly! Plus who wants to wait weeks waiting for a card to come in the mail and may not even be the one you want.

It wasn't so much that they didn't have Alvarez inked. They didn't even inquire into his availability to sign prior to putting him on the checklist. They put him on before they made any attempt to get him under contract.

I can somewhat understand putting in redemptions if you have a guy under contract. But someone you haven't even reached out to? that's just wrong.

What's the problem with it being a sticker auto vs. on card? I'd take a Stanton auto over Alvarez any day. Stanton is one of the top young players in the game and Alvarez is not even close.

Read my screen name and that should answer your question. Incidentally, when I bought it, they were semi-comparable players.

I don't like sticker autos because they are ugly and seem just cheap to me. I do like 2011 Museum Autos because they are beautiful.

Can you send me a scan of the Stanton? I may be interested in taking it off your hands.

I called last week and finally decided to go ahead and try my luck at my Tommy Hanson Museum Collection auto /10. These cards are amazing and I hate the fact I couldn't get what I was supposed to. I am truly nervous about what I will get in return. I have also decided that I am done with redemptions. From now on, I am never redeeming again. Just going to sell it and move on. It's become too much of a gamble.

I had a Latos museum collection redemption that I got a replacement for. The first replacement was a base topps Adrian Gonzalez sticker auto relic, I think it was /20 or /25. I wasn't happy so I sent it back saying it wasn't comparable. They ended up sending a Juan Marichal museum collection auto which was nice, I was able to sell it and make my money back plus a little.

I'm one of the few that seems to have good luck, although I have recently requested repalcements for some higher end cards and hope I didn't just jinx myself. Last one I replaced was a Bowman Black Collection Autograph of Jameson Taillon #/25, I was actually waiting on 2 of them so I went ahead and replaced one to see what I'd get. I bought the Taillon redemption for $45 and they sent me a Topps Chrome Stephen Strasburg auto, which I sold for $100. I immediately requested replacement of the other Taillon and am still waiting.

I was also waiting on a Bowman Platinum Red Refractor auto #/25 of Anthony Rendon. He's my PC guy so I planned on waiting it out. Then I saw a guy on Blowout who replaced his Rendon Platinum Gold Refractor #/50 and Topps sent him a Bowman Chrome Blue Wave Auto #/50 of Rendon, worth about 3x as much as the Platinum. So that prompted me to replace my Rendon and I specifically requested they send me a Rendon Bowman Chrome Orange Refractor Auto (since they're both #/25). I doubt I'll get it, but from a value perspective, even if the send me a Rendon Blue Wave or Gold Ref Auto, i'll come out WAAAAAAAAAY ahead. I'll update when I get the replacements in
