So Panini just mails them out and hopes the athlete pictured signs them? They don't have a rep there to help the player figure out where to sign? (or maybe this rep is just as clueless as the player?)

The cards don't have a clear place to sign. If he started with the plain jersey cards it's not surprising he assumed that was the place to sign.

I Wouldn't complain, at least he has patch cards.

The non relic versions of these cards pretty much suck. Instead of a patch making the #/25 special, you get gold foil.
