Al Leiter is an MLB analyst and has talked about this card many times before. Isn't it possible he knows about the card through MLB Network? Sheesh.

Of course he says he knows nothing about baseball.

But damn, what motive does he have showing off junk if he is being deceitful and truly knows about baseball? LOL

Nearly every card made during the 80s can be bought for under $5 with most worth only a few cents.

Not counting rare errors or tiffany cards, heres the best ones ($5 or more) from the decade:
80 rickey henderson, nolan ryan
82 ripken
83 gwynn, sandberg, boggs, strawberry
84 mattingly, clemens, puckett
85 mcgwire, clemens, puckett
86 bonds
87 bonds (fleer)
88 alomar (score)
89 griffey

look for alot of the traded cards from topps and fleer. They will have a "t" next to the number for topps and a "U" for fleer. if you have a Ripken with a "t" they will hold more of a premium. Just like the McGwire rookie team USA card from topps has a premiuim over all other McGwire cards.
Your best bet is to look up e-bay the year of the cards you know. Say one binder has 1987 topps. look up 1987 topps but look for final sales and see what is selling and not

Why do I get the feeling that in a day or so all of you are "prolly" going to feel pretty sheepish for getting taken in by this guy?

That's the point...."taken in" by what? How could he be possibly be scamming someone? Asking about the value of some cards from the 70's-90's and gaining an extra few bucks in his sales? Geez....you guys are so pessimistic. Either help the guy or shut up.

I was actually thinking "taken in" more along the lines of he's an attention-seeking little troll who's getting his rocks off messing with you all, and you're all taking the bait, moreso than he's setting up some kind of long con for monetary gain....but that slight possibility is also still on the table.

I might be a bit cynical, but I'm usually pretty good at reading people...and something doesn't quite ring true here.

I feel like you need to settle down dude. You're over analyzing things too much lol. There are people out there who know nothing about cards that we may think is common sense in collecting. The vast majority of people haven't a clue about this stuff. I've never seen your username either so to me there is a lack of credibility in your responses as well. Responses like the ones you've posted and members like you are why FCB comes off as a negative place sometimes.

Even if they guy WAS puling our legs, there's really not a whole lot to be ashamed of - offering help to someone who asks for it. Not everyone follows sports cards, and it's nice to see someone who possibly landed here by typing "help with baseball cards" (or something similar) into Google.

Relax a bit.

I'm relaxed, and waiting with bated breath and laughter for the end result I see coming in this thread.

You need to tell Wolfboy to take his rhetoric down a notch and to relax, as well.

Wolfman is actually correct. I don't know what's worse - the possibility of being trolled by the OP or the OP getting trolled by skepticism.
If the OP isn't being honest then it's BY FAR the least dangerous troll we've seen.

In your opinion.....and we all know that famous line about opinions, don't we?

Now I'll just sit back and watch the show.......
