They were very aggressive trying to get smaller/trouble maker sellers off their site when they were trying to become Amazon Jr without the infrastructure. They desperately want to go to a set price format so they can more easily predict profits and get rid of the wild card auctions.

Also one of the metrics they are judged on is how many buyers are registered and new ones registered in a quarter. That is why you don't see them banning buyers like they ae sellers.

Calling Ebay is pretty useless, especially when it comes to something that should be common sense. I don't think I've ever heard of a problem that had an obvious practical solution that was solved by calling Ebay. No one who answers the phone seems to have any authority.

You should try calling your local news that has an "on your side" reporter, where they pursue stories of wronged consumers. Ebay probably won't answer to them, but it's an option.

If it is as easy as you seem to be implying then don't you think it would have been done? Not as easy as you think.....Especially when Ebay has been running so many free listing promotions the past year and I have had up to 9000 items up at one time and been doing alot of relisting of cards that did not sell the first time.. I have found a few that ebay would say is duplicate listing and I have taken them off however. But, of the 10's of thousands of listings over the past year all it took was a couple of duplicates to get restricted... SO PLEASE DON'T GET HARDCORE AND SELF RIGHTEOUS ON ME..DO YOU REALLY THINK i WOULD WANT TO RISK A SUSPENSION OVER A COUPLE OF 30 DOLLAR CARDS WHEN IT MEANS THOUSANDS TO ME?

I agree the policy is ridiculous in certain cases, such as yours.
However, after you got the 7-day restriction, why didn't you correct the situation on your other auctions before you got the 30-day selling restriction?

I realize you had thousands of auctions to sift through, but if you break a rule the first time, fix the problem so you don't get hit harder.
If a baseball player is suspended for breaking a rule, he's going to get suspended longer if he does it again.

To answer the question about "admin" numbers: Yes, that works.

The 2 titles can be basically the same, and then have some goofy tracking number at the end of the title.

So eBay is not okay with people listing 2 different but similarly-described items, but are fine with nonsense word, numbers or cyphers in the titles. All you have to do is fool the algorithm they use to suss these out.

There is an easy way around it. Just add more info to the second auction.

And, of course, keeping in mind that the ebay person I spoke with agreed that they were 2 DIFFERENT autographs on the same 2 alike photos. so yes, 2 alike photos with 2 different looking autographs of the same person qualifies as a duplicate listing. Didn't matter to her and since the title and listing were the same wording the restriction was upheld.

So the warning to others is to not use the same wording when you list 2 similar but different autographs or cards. You will get flagged. So, I guess, as an example list 2011 Bowman Chrome Bryce Autograph(A) then list another 2011 Bowman Chrome Bryce Autograph(B) and you will be fine. And be careful using a template in your item description since all your listings will be alike.

So, to sum it up and move on,tens of thousands of listings over the last year. Had 1 time where I actually had a duplicate listing and 2 times where they were completely different autographs on a similar items with the same wording....

A 7 day listing ban and then now a 30 day listing ban. Now just trying to inform others and not have this happen to you.

all you have to do is change the wording around a little in the title and you should be ok, and list them for different prices too----- Bryce Harper 2012 bowman chrome refractor....... 2012 bowman chrome refractor Bryce Harper

Its the only game in town, when they say jump I say how high. Arent we all trained by now. I hate it but it is what it is.

Untrue, and very much a self-inflicted restriction. The sooner people realize there are other sites out there (bidstart, onlineauction, wensy, ebid, comc, sportlots, webstore, ecrater, etc.), and start using them, the sooner eBay will cease to be perceived that way.

Noted Francis..Time for a warm shower LOL....When you have tried to do things correctly and get restricted and have someone give you the third degree you might feel a little different. Especially when others, and some we know or have known, who cheat people, sell forged autos, fake patches, stolen merchandise, backdoored product etc seem to have no accountability on Ebay............

Lighten up, Francis.

Crazy deal!

I always have Bowman Chrome Prospect Autos up of the same player. I always have the team in the title, so if I have more than one I just use these randomly *

I had some weird issue with this a few months back when I listed two '33 Goudey cards graded by SGC. They were the same grade but completely different cards of different players. I called but got the "I'll have someone look at this and get back to you" which to me just translated to "I have no idea what the heck is wrong so some imaginary person will not call you back."

There are already plenty of sellers on those sites, the problem is there aren't enough buyers. People are creatures of habit, and since internet buyers are most familiar with ebay, it will be a long time before ebay loses their dominant market share to those smaller competitors.

I've started seeing a lot of stuff up with little jibberish at the end of the title. Now I know why. Pretty dumb rule.
