I was looking for the ARTISTS Proof on it.. I looked at MagicP's.. and his looks identical

not that is wasnt bad enough.............it gets more confusing...............
seems like it just from the 98 Rookie Traded set at least
[h=3]Artist's Proof[/h] Artist Proof parallels are seeded at one in every 35 packs. Artist's Proof 1 of 1 also exist. They have a gold seal on the front of the card.
[h=3]Showcase Series[/h] Showcase Series is a 160-card, silver-foil, partial parallel of the base set. It is also available as a prismatic-foil "Artist's Proof" and "Artist's Proof 1 of 1" parallels. The 1 of 1 cards all have a massive foil seal with the phrase "001/001" stamped on the front.

Translation: Please don't bid against me on this

Definitely not what I meant. I know there are going to be some serious bidders, and nobody is going to get this for a steal. I'm just saying that it has been a long time since I really went after a card (When have I ever said anything like that before? I haven't.), but... I did NOT realize there were two of these? Magic has the same card? So, one of the two is backdoored? Geez, I may need to cancel my bid because I have suddenly lost interest in it.

Well, you cannot really tell anything from those pics cause that could have been the same card twice, but, if you have that one Griffey "1/1" and this guy has the same one, then there could be even more than that out there somewhere. I just retracted my bid on it. I always wanted a 90's Griffey true 1 of 1 and was prepared to spend at least a couple thousand going after it. Magic, good luck to you if you're going after it. If you get it, I hope you post a nice pic of them both displayed right next to each other.

Was just joking w/ you. I still think its an awesome card, even if there are 2 if them. I don't collect '90s inserts, but I'd be all over it if I did.

Auction integrity is our #1 priority. Collectors deserve an auction forum they can trust.

The sportscard hobby hinges on the honesty and integrity of the seller. Too often we hear of fraud and other manipulation that serves to undermine the integrity of our hobby. Bidders deserve better, where bidding is 100% legitimate and uninfluenced by manipulations such as fraudulent (shill) bidding by the auction house, consignors, friends of consignors, friends of the auction house, or anyone else who participates insincerely with the sole intention of manipulating the sale price. We do NOT permit shill bidding of any kind and actively police our auctions to prevent such acts from occurring. If we learn that a bidder is questionable, we take action in the form of canceling the bid and blocking a bidder from participating in future auctions.

I thought it was common knowledge there were multiples of those cards. Seen several sets of duplicates, but the three of jaderock's are the most I've seen of any one of them.

Yeah, for whatever reason, I just didn't know that. I only collect Griffey, so I guess I just never came across this issue. I know about all the backdoored Pinnacle cards (1997 Mirror Golds primarily) but didn't know about these (I know Score is a Pinnacle brand). Glad I found this out now rather than after potentially winning that "1 of 1"! I'm very thankful for this forum!

Somehow I neglected to post this pick up here last week.

At a show, got this sealed '98 donruss preferred tin (24 packs inside) with griffey on the cover.

Didn't realize when I bought it that it was the gold version 181/199

Was going to open it but decided to test the ebay waters now. Going pretty well

Glad you got it safely. Now you can stop complaining that you don't have a Topps auto. Enjoy!
