Could be worse, I don't think the Brewers have officially ousted Axford yet so based on the Cubs having a better record than Milwaukee already and they've already made a closer adjustment, you could say Dale is staying ahead of the competition. Cubs home opener today! Be interesting to see how the series goes, Brewers missing lots of pieces and the other pieces flat sucking

True but the Brewers have seem to out slug the Cubs in Wrigley the past few meetings.

I think Milwaukee takes the series in Chicago

Sounding more and more like Ax is out now thank god. Brewers leas all-time series 118-117. God I love when these teams meet up, always entertaining and lots of late heroics mixed in. Wind blowing out to right today. Hard. Milwaukee with only one lefty in the lineup but looks like Brauns back

Unless you clearly have a stud I don't understand why teams try to force a closer. Why not just go to the pen bring in whoever, if he has it that day stick with him. If he doesn't, bring in someone else when he gets in trouble.

It seems like everyone is trying to make the Marmols and Axfords of the world into Rivera or Hoffman. The vast majority of relievers are guys that couldn't cut it as starters. They aren't very reliable.

Why?

Because he's dealing with the less than mediocre roster he's been given?

Do you genuinely expect the Cubs to even compete over the next few seasons?

True he is just a stop gap. No established manager was ever going to ever come in with the team they way it is and will be for a few more years. So he is a is here until they can right the ship and show some course. Until then he does not need to win ball games what so ever.
