Vlad's numbers are better than Jim Ed's. Case closed.

He was sure fun to watch when he played the one season for the Rangers even at an advanced age.

The question with any players of this era is "did he play clean?" If yes then he will eventually make it in the HOF.

Same failed argument made for Mattingly (however, I would consider Mattingly seriously)..

Definitely a Hall of Famer.
It boggles my mind that at least one of you wrote Vlad belongs in the Hall of Very Good.
Did you watch the guy play? He was dominant, and at least as great offensively as Frank Thomas.

And yes, I believe Albert Belle belongs in the Hall of Fame as well.
Belle was incredible and if his injury didn't abruptly end his career (103 rbi in final season), his numbers would have been so extraordinary that his surly personality wouldn't be enough to keep bitter voters from electing him.
If Puckett got in even though an injury ended his career, Belle should too.

You can use the fact that he didn't walk much as a "con" against him, however to counter that, he was an extremely tough strikeout for being a free-swinger.

Being a huge Vlad fan and seeing him over the years, Im still shocked/happy his name hasn't come up in any PED discussion(atleast to my ears)

I just started scanning my Vlad collection this week and I have TONS yet to add

Very similar indeed. Both are deserving. I wish Clark had a career with less injuries, I would have liked to see how his numbers woulda changed.

Edmonds had a career OPS of .903 and Vladimir Guerrero had a career OPS of .931... Very comparable...

Factor in Edmonds' 8 gold gloves, and you have a close competition.

I love Vladdy. He's my favorite all-time player but you've got a point about the gold gloves. I think everyone tends to remember the Edmonds in the twilight of his career with the Cubs and maybe the last year or two with StL and not the Edmonds in his glory days. I hated the Cardinals but I will admit that in his day he was one of the best centerfielders of this age.

I agree about Edmonds. And I love Vlad as well, even though he used to destroy the phillies :/.

The big question for Vlad during his last year in baltimore was whether he'd end the year with more illegitimate children, or walks .

Guerrero shouldn't be punished for playing on bad teams. Also Sheffield and Walker should be in and Andruw Jones should never be considered. Anyone who lets themselves get that fat and lazy like he did in his last Atlanta years shouldn't get into the hall of fame.

Tony Gwynn agrees with you.
