Joc Pederson 2-4, RBI, SB (15)

.324 AVG, 8 HR, 15 SB as one of the youngest players in the league. Pretty impressive.

Not that he's a strikeout pitcher or anything, but Sonny Gray is 5IP, 1ER, 5H, 7K, 0BB so far on 70 pitches and still going. The Padres AAA team is kinda meh in terms of big league quality hitters, but still.

I've read this somewhere else about Gray... is he maturing into one?? 49K's in 50IP going into tonight. 1 per not too shabby.

just a little joke between me and Jaypers. He mentioned once that Sonny was never known as a high K guy. He had a bad K/9 last year (bad a lot of things last year), but in college had 317k over 293.1IP, or 1.08/inning. Plus 20 in 22 pro innings after getting drafted in 2011. It was just 2012 where he had 99 in 152IP that he seemed not to be. It has been my contention that 2012 was the aberration, not the rule.

I think he'll be a 7-8 k per 9 guy in MLB. He was just going through working on new pitches and mechanics last year, from everything I've read (and being a Vandy nut and him being a VU legend, I follow him a decent amount).

Anywho, he's done for the day, 6IP, 5H, 1er, 0BB, 9k, 88 pitches. Pretty confident in the win, as his team is up 19-1.

Lol... thanks for filling me in. I'm sure it was one of the daily MiLB threads where I read that. 7-8 K/9 would be just fine I would think.
