This just popped up on ebay. I can't recall seeing any of these triple threads having patches. But this have to be real right? Either that, or it's one very skilled patch faker with those GU cutouts

It looks too good to be true for a TTT card numbered out of 18.

I may be wrong but weren't patch fakers taking those thicker cards apart and putting them back together? If so then the front windows wouldn't be affected.

The only thing you can do is compare it to other examples of that parallel. Many of them split a little, naturally, so splitting them became the easiest way to fake 'em. No idea on this one.

Wait, you can separate these cards? Would you be able to see any damage to it?

Not all the time. I have seen altered ones in person and its near impossible with some, I guess the more they do the better they get. If not bent the fronts of triple threads are almost plastic like.

I had a Yogi Berra I pulled from a box that the corner was peeled I contacted topps and they told me to return the card, I peeled a bit more back to see the the inner workings of a GU card and was amazed how clean it separated. I would imagine with the proper glue and a few clamps it wouldn't be that hard.

I've seen some higher numbered triple threads with nice patch pieces, but its usually just one of the three swatches. Not all three like this. I can't tell for sure. That's just my observation.

I will second this that I have also seen some higher numbered cards with better 'relic' pieces than the more limited parallels. Cards /50 have a patch while cards /25 have only jersey swatch, etc. I will also second that I haven't seen all three windows have a patch like this Posada, but I am not as familiar with whatever year of TTT this card is from.

If I had to guess I'd say it's real, but I guess I like to give humanity the benefit of the doubt most of the time. Who knows.

I have complete walls (less 2 cards) of 2008-2011 TTT relic cards of Sizemore and I think the only patches I have on them are on 2 of the 1/1s. I believe they're both legit. While that doesn't mean this Posada is legit, I would say there is precedent for patches.

I don't know about the Posada, but the Sabathia that the seller has was sold by a known patch faker back in 2011.

Slight wear spots on the top of the windows.....

Who knows. I would stay away to be honest.
