Cpaps aren't terrible, I've been using one since... Oh probably around '02...at least I get good nights sleep now, but sleep apnea runs in my family, my grandma had it, both my parents, my uncle and so on and so on... You get use to it

After reading your recent update it sounds like your up and moving around. Gradually working toward some sort of normalcy. You have supportive friends and family and a very good doctor.

E- It definitely was!

Thought I would update again. Things are getting crazy.

I had my sleep study last Friday. As I already knew, I have apnea. I have not received the official word yet, but they had to hook me up to a cpap at 2am. Since I had at least 3 hours on the cpap, they said that I should not need another sleep study on a cpap. Whenever the doctor calls, I should just be able to go in for a fitting and get my machine.

I started cardiac rehab on Monday. I was supposed to do my stress test yesterday. However, I got a phone call from my cardiologist on Tuesday evening. I was not supposed to start rehab yet. Having an artery that is 90% blocked prevents it. Rehab and a stress test could potentially cause another heart attack. I am not supposed to start any real activity until after my next stent. This is all great to know now.

All of the bad information, returning to work and rehab, came from a cardiologist in the hospital. He was the one who was overstepping his bounds and telling me what to do. My cardiologist said that if he had wanted me to return to work or start rehab, he would have left that information with the hospital. This other doctor is just a **** sucking piece of XXXX who better hope I don't ever catch his ass in the streets. I will XXXX his world up.

Any way, we looked up the doctor from the hospital and gave his name to my cardiologist. He was pissed. He said that he will definitely be contacting the other doctor. I'm half tempted to start a XXXXing malpractice suit.

Sorry for the rant and colorful language, I just can't believe that the one cardiologist is so stupid. That's all of the updates for now. Just 3 more weeks and I get my second stent.

Just got off the phone with the sleep study center. I have severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea. They are going to call me next week to set up an appointment for a fitting and everything. They are going to contact my insurance company and get all of that squared away before my appointment. I am hoping not to have any out of pocket because I can't afford it. My short term disability has not kicked in yet, so I haven't been paid in almost a month. From talking to them, they're hoping it will all finally be approved next week. So please keep your fingers crossed that it does.

Cpaps aren't that terrible, but the improved sleep will make all the difference

I have no doubt. I know it is going to take some time to get adjusted to it, but for it being better for my heart and sleep, it will be well worth it.

My dad got a Cpap about a year ago and said he can see how he slept before he had it. Best thing he ever got

I had a really bad infection in my trachea as a child, spent almost 8 days in a medically induced coma while I healed. The swelling ended up deforming the opening so much so that when I lay backwards, the damaged tissue obstructs my airway. Sitting up or laying on my stomach, I'm fine. Anyway, I've been using a CPAP for nearly 15 years to keep the trachea open; it saved my life. Literally. I sleep on my stomach, my side, my back, wherever; I'm not uncomfortable at all compared to how I used to feel. I think you'll love it.

I appreciate all of the comments. I am actually looking forward to getting my machine. Good sleep sounds great to me.

Supposed to get my machine on Tuesday. Still waiting to hear how much I am supposed to pay out of pocket. The company that handles our short term disability claims still has not approved mine, so I still have not gotten paid. I may have to wait longer on getting my cpap if I don't start getting my checks.

Everything is still going well though. Just 2 more weeks until the second stent. After that, I bet things really start to improve.

Are the machines set professionally? Will any machine work? I have one you can borrow.

They are set professionally. I am hoping that my insurance will completely cover it. I have surpassed my yearly out of pocket, so it should at least be covered 80% but I'm hoping for 100.
