Cole Hamels is 2-11, and has more losses than any NL pitcher has wins.
He's on pace to go 4-24.
His ERA is only 4.50, so he's obviously had a lot of bad luck.

Do you think he'll be the first 20-game loser since Mike Maroth (9-21) in 2003?

Before Maroth, it was Brian Kingman (8-20) in 1980, so there has only been two 20-loss seasons in the last 33 years.

I don't think so. He'll get close, but won't hit 20.

Nah, he's too good.

Even if the Phils have a Fire Sale, and still don't score enough LOL, he'll still be good enough to avoid 20. 15 yeah, but not 20...

Not likely as his peripherals are pretty close to his career averages. But with the pathetic run support he gets coupled with bad luck - it's certainly possible.

I agree with you guys. He'll probably lose 15-18 games. So many of his losses were caused by a lack of run support and it can't get any worse.

I think they'll shut him down or start spreading out the number of days between starts if he's approaching 20 losses and the Phils are nowhere near in contention for the division.

You mean to save him the embarrassment? I don't think they would ever shut him down if he's healthy it would be even more embarassing to have 19 losses and have missed a couple starts. Losses mean nothing, and he could very easily have the same era with a 10-6 or something record on a better team. Also, his walk rate is up a little bit, but besides that all of his other numbers (k/9, gb%, fb%, hrs) are right around his career norm. The only difference is he is giving up way more hits with runners on than with the bases empty. In short, I think he's due for better results soon.
