I did succeed in getting a bear permit in the lottery for the fall hunt, I'm not going after these though. The sow and cubs in my buddy's back yard last night.

A .270 cal is big enough, .125 grain to .150 grain cartridge is plenty. I'm debating on using my crossbow also. I have a .243 Mossberg and a 30.06 custom mauser. The Mossberg is sighted in dead nuts at 100 yards.
