Hey Alex, CL and I saw that its going to be in the high 80s low 90 s there!!!!!!! Amazing weather!! We're also in the midst of a heat wave. After 3 weeks of Seattle like weather and 1 natural disaster later, Summer has hit.

Hey Jesse! Too bad you and CL weren't here now :) It hit 87 yesterday and is going to be mid 80's the next few days. Hoping to get a small rainfall on the 3rd just before the 4th of July just to keep it safe. I'm glad to hear the weather is better for you guys, recovery in the city must be insane though.

Thanks, Dan.

Kind of feel bad selling them (or trying to), but figure that 1. it will be appreciated more by a collector than by me, 2. I am keeping a couple for nostalgia, and 3. I can use the money!

Or a triumvirate of bull$hit, your choice.

Hey, turns out I already scanned the sketch card, so here it is.

It was done by the very talented Ingrid Hardy (JediPencil was her moniker way back when):

Not wild about the word Jedipencil along the edge of the sketch, but that was how it was done at the time, and I got a very, very good deal on the commission (before she was well-known), so I can live with it.

Best of luck with the sale, sir! I remember buying Hot Wheels as a kid. That S'Cool Bus that Magic posted was in my collection.

I still have a few of my original Hot Wheels, along with some pieces of orange plastic Hot Wheel track (or, as we used to see them, weapons with which to beat our siblings).

I keep a couple of those jumping spiders in the house. I don't mind them, and they aren't dangerous to humans. They do hunt and kill brown recluse spiders though. The house we bought to remodel and live in sat dormant for over a year, so the recluse moved in. That population has diminished big time since I introduced the two, large jumping spiders into my house. Sounds odd, but I believe it to have worked. University of Kansas student did some research on it, and it became known in these parts. He actually put jumping spiders in a house that was infested with recluse spiders and put night vision cameras everywhere. Caught some sweet footage of the jumping spiders decimating the recluse spiders.

I celebrated my 53rd birthday about a week ago.
I remember taking some birthday (1970, 10 at the time) money to JC Penney's and buying several Hot Wheels.
That S'Cool Bus was among them.

The year was 1968...September 7
at that time the competition was between
the "Johnny Lightning" cars and the british
company Lesney "Matchbox" cars
{which would be later bought out by Mattel}

Harry Bentley Bradley was a custom designer
who was able to bring about new ideas for then
Elliot Handler, the co-founder of Mattel...
His biggest being the frictionless free rolling wheels
for which the cars got their name - The Camaro {custom} was First off the line

" The metallic 'Spectraflame' paintwork marked out these
models from drab enamel of Matchbox cars. The attractive
finishes were achieved by firstly polishing the bare metal of the
bodyshells and then coating them in a clear colored lacquer,
and featured such exotic colors as 'Antifreeze', 'Magenta' and
'Hot Pink'. Because 'Hot Pink' was considered a "girls color", it
was not used very much on Hot Wheels cars. For most castings,
it is the hardest color to find, and today can command prices
ten times as high as more common colors.
