Can you imagine trying to pack 10k+ a day in the Legends Club area??
Not that the Twins bring in that many fans to Twinsfest anymore.
They have to be considering this past year with how big of a failure, yes Im calling it a failure as I went all three days and the crickets were chirping aloud there!!!
Small venue mean higher prices to get in, to get autos, to buy from vendors cause their costs will be higher, to buy memorabilia, etc.
For those of you that have been to TF this year and have been to the GU kiosk, you know just how insane the Twins memorabilia department has become this year. $750 for an Arcia bat, give me a XXXXing break!!! They have squeezed out the everyday fan.

I think you nailed earlier when you said this will be Blaine 2.0. As an aside, I've never understood why Detroit holds their TigerFest at Comerica. The autograph lines are outside on the concourses and then the actual signing areas are inside (like how the Twins use the press box at the Dome).

I hear you on the game used, ridiculous. I don't see myself buying anything in the near future. I have 5 bats that total I haven't spent 500 for which is the price of their cheapest. I emailed and tweeted my ST rep and voice my displeasure but she hasn't answered me in 2 months now so I gave up hope on her getting back to me.

STrib today said there will be fewer vendors, and they haven't worked out how many can fit there. They may tent off concourses and/or the field too.

I hate the rise in game used prices as much as the next person, but as long as the stuff keeps selling, they'll keep raising the prices until they find the ceiling. Then, when all the stuff finally sits on the shelves, then they may decrease the prices. The days of being able to pick up jerseys and flip them are long gone.

Last night, I saw the Arcia bat with my own eyes, $750!!!
The next laughable thing for me was the Gibson jersey, team issued (as all are) from Spring Training this year. Gibson got in 4 games (think a total of 7 innings), two of which I was able to quickly locate photos of him in the home white jersey. The one that they had out there was a the blue cool base version, number 32 (which we know Hicks is wearing at the MLB level) so I dont know yet if it was even worn in a game that he pitched in for....................you guessed it, $750!!! The CSRs were trying to justify the price. I said its "team issued" and from Spring Training. It was NOT used in a MLB game. If this was his MLB debut jersey, ok, then I can see the asking price.
As I told them, I am not yelling or arguing with you, but you cannot justify this Gibson jersey for $750.
They asked what I thought a fair price would be. Being generous, I said $250 max right now based on the hype.
I was then told there are "hardcore" collectors out there that will want this jersey. I laughed and smiled and said I consider myself a pretty knowledgeable collector, I paid $750 for Cuddyer's Game 163 First Basemans glove, its signed, inscribed game 163, Central Division Champs and I have a Twitter convo with Cuddy confirming the use in 163. Which would you say is more worth the 750 price tag??? The looks on their faces said it all. I said I know you cannot verbally say your opinion on how ridiculous some of these prices are, but I am confident that if you could, I know what you would say. Both smirked.
Best part then was a lady comes up and sees the Gibson jersey, says oooooooooooh how much is that? She was told the 750. After picking her jaw up off the ground, she walked away.
Thats the thing, the Twins are squeezing out a ton of people. Will someone buy the jersey? Maybe. But how many potential future sales with repeat new buyers are they losing by marking this XXXX up so high that people wont come back to inquire about other stuff. Just plan stupid IMO.
I will stick to the secondary market and continue to pick up Cuddyer stuff for half the cost.

Reminds me of the card dealers who sit on overpriced cards and probably gloat internally when they sell something at "their" price without stopping to consider all the possible sales they lost from all the people who have stopped looking at their stuff

Yep. I used to make routine stops at at least two of the Pro Shops... I have not been to a Pro Shop for about least three years now.

So I know this isn't really Twins related, but it happened at last night's game so I figured I would post it here. I usually try and graph the visiting team, but the Yankees are a different kind of animal. I have only been down there for the Yankees once, and that was because I got in early for Twins batting practice so I had a great spot by third base. As it so happens, I had Derek Jeter throw me a ball so that was pretty sweet. Fast forward to today, I got to the stadium at about 5:15, or 15 minutes before gates opened. There was already quite a few fans waiting to get in, and when gates open people were sprinting down to the dugout. I got down there and didn't get the best spot because of it (don't feel right running around like an 8 year old for autographs, some of the adults just looked plain stupid). Some players will sign while the team is taking batting practice, others will stop and sign after batting practice when everyone comes in. About halfway through I see Mariano Rivera start running in from CF, which isn't very usual for players to come in early unless they are taking BP. To my surprise, he came in early in order to talk with fans and sign autographs. As you can imagine, there was a mad dash by everyone in the stadium to the spot where he was signing, or about 6 feet to my right. I figured I didn't stand too much of a chance and that he would just sign 4-5 and leave, but to my surprise again he stayed for about 10 minutes signing and chatting. There was probably 150 people crammed into that little area, and out of approximately 30-40 autographs that he signed I came away with this!!! Now don't bash me because it's the Yankees, I can't stand them like the rest of you. But this was the last chance I figured I could ever get his autograph without having to dish out $100-200, so it is definitely one of my favorite pieces of my collection!
