Then I guess you would include Cuddyer as well, since before this season, they had nearly identical best seasons, 2 All-Star games apiece, but Cuddyer is lacking Ethier's Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards.
Yeah, Ethier's having a down year, but Cuddyer is hitting 52 points higher at Home at Coors Field than away, and he has the same away average, .305, as Ethier.
So I know you were just making a dig, but I found it an ironic comment considering how similar the two players' careers have been.

Wow a little touchy there guy about Ethier retract those claws

I doubt anybody willing to pay $8-10K for a card is the least bit worried about making their money back. I'm with you, I would much rather have a mid grade Mantle 52 or a Joe Jackson Cracker Jack but some people just don't like vintage and that's ok with me because this hobby needs all kinds.

I think most people that made lots of money don't piss it away so the people who buys these cards either think they are good investments or didnt earn their money by working. I think status only takes you so far it's not like the can drive around in it and snag some ****

What's so hard to understand? People like new things.

Yes, but you'd think even a rich person would want the finest things money can buy. Is this your idea of the finest thing money can buy? Most people that spend that type of money have to be pretty well loaded. And those people tend to want something that stands out. Byron Buxton stand out to you as one of THE cards to have? At that kind of price? From all angles this is weird. But so was the whole Wossa thing too. I'm all for everyone collecting what they like. But even then this seems weird.

The only way to view it, that could get me to want to buy this card, is the thought that if he has a Mike trout type impact, I could double my money. BUT, I would NOT, ever buy a card like this unless I was filthy rich. Or if it was my son's card........

One could argue that the Buxton is one of the finest things you can buy - among prospect cards. If you like prospects there aren't many cards you'd prefer. It's the best of a different category.
