Contenders is always a strong brand. Topps Chrome Football is always a great rip with all of the parallels. The fact that Chrome will include Luck and RGIII autos is a plus as well.

You know exactly what I mean. It wasn't code. Have some class. Because it seems you can't respond to anyone without being a smartass.

I don't usually speak up too much but Mead n Posey you guys have to realize that back n forth banter that destroys posts is not what we need.

No one cares about age, adding to discussion etc. But this is the 3rd or 4th thread this week that turns into garbage.

Move on, please, it's not accomplishing a thing and just pointless.

Thanks
Ryan

Amusing reading the bickering on this draft class. There is no Luck or Griffin, we get that, but it doesn't suck. This is not 2010 which was pretty awful at QB outside of Bradford (though Tebow did sell cardboard). We've been spoiled by a number of rookie starting QBs the past two seasons and odds are we at least get Manuel this year. I figure Geno Smith will get a shot later in the season as well. The 2010 receiver class was ho-hum outside of Dez Bryant. RBs were, well, not all that exciting either. Most thought the Bills reached for Spiller though he's panned out when not hurt. Most thought Ryan Mathews was an injury waiting to happen and those predictions have come to fruition. There were a few good TEs to come out of that draft including one homicidal maniac. I've been following the draft pretty close since 2006 and extremely close the past few years. It's tough comparing draft classes directly but I'd say 2013 resembles 2006 albeit without the Reggie Bush and Vince Young hype. As such, it's not as good from an initial case ripping perspective but has ample potential to improve.

QB: (likely starters) EJ Manuel, (potential staters) Geno Smith,... (developmental) Glennon, Barkley, Wilson, Nassib, Jones, etc.
RB: (likely starters in some form) Bernard, Bell, Ball, Lacy, Michael, Davis, Franklin... (others who should see some snaps) Stepfan Taylor, Joseph Randle, Gillislee, Ellington, Burkhead, among others.
WR: (likely starters) Austin, Hopkins, Patterson... This is followed by a long list of players potential starters, Woods, Williams, Allen, Bailey, and Patton to name just a handful.
OW: Denard Robinson. He's gonna get some play time, probably in multiple forms. He may not be elite but easily sells cardboard.

I simply fail to see how this group "sucks" from a card or on field perspective.

Getting back to the original question, "Bowman Chrome rules Baseball, but what about Football? What is the best auto's to buy if you are thinking of selling for a short term profit? I do not buy much Football, but I know last year was a great year with the amount of skill players. Thinking of trying to prospect a little Football this year"...

Welcome to the party. It seems like many baseball people are crossing over. I personally think football produces a faster return as there are no Bowman Chrome Draft or Team USA cards to hold for several years. Further, I can easily watch most of these guys for several years in the minor league, aka the NCAA (and possibly a return of the USFL in the not too distant future). Plus, I and many others, simply like watching football more than baseball. To quickly answer your question, nothing truly rules football like Bowman Chrome "rules" baseball. The longer answer below.

As I mentioned, football cards are different than baseball since there is no Bowman Chrome or Team USA card to come out years before a standard rookie card. Every card is effectively a first year card in football. This adds a bit of a prospecting twist as the best football products come out later in the season... Topps Chrome, Contenders, National Treasures, to name a few. Leaf does make some pre-draft cards but I find those are best for speculating on the draft then moving on to something else. If you want something to fill the mid summer doldrums then Elite is a decent product. Base Topps should be out by the end of August and that's a good product to pick up some autographs from before the season gets started. It also offers short print variations that have held value pretty well since being introduced in 2009. The first product I have traditionally loaded up on the past few years in Finest, also usually out by the end of August. The set has gotten a lot more popular the past couple years and, depending on one's budget, there are plenty of autographed and non autographed colors to go after. It comes out just before the season starts, allowing a person to gobble up some cards of players who might be hot early. Chrome will not be out until November so does not have same advantage as Finest. Chrome remains more popular overall and is a great product for hoarding for a playoff run or for next season. It all depends on your time horizon. For me, Pre-draft is for Leaf, preseason is for Elite, Topps, and Finest, mid season and beyond is for Chrome, Contenders, National Treasures, and perhaps Prizm. There are other good products out there but I don't follow them much.
