Doing some research for a few guys I wanna TTM I came across personal home addresses, work addresses, and email. Is it ok to send away or should I contact and ask for permission first?

Send, but don't share the address publicly.

People don't like that.

That's interesting, cuz other car forum sites have parts DEDICATED to TTM Addresses....if you post a success you post the address.

Interesting on the two differing views...

I wouldn't send right away. First send a letter or email asking if they mind if you send TTM. But that's just me. Also it is against TOS to post private info such as address phone number stuff like that.

No. That's WRONG an extreme waste of time and money.

Most players (especially current ones) take months to sign all the built up TTM on an off day or a long evening off, if they sign at all. Just send your legal sized envelope, with a short, friendly HANDWRITTEN message inside. Include a smaller SASE so they can sign, pop in envelope and seal.

SASE is super important!!! Most players wont return if no SASE

Addresses for private residences and personal emails should be kept private, unless consent is given to release the information.

Is it illegal? Cuz on SCF, if someone finds a successful home address they upload it to their TTM Manager. I guess two different schools of thought and politicking with what to do with said info.

I'm not trying to start anything or get anyone mad here, just strikes me as interesting at the differing views.

I don't believe it's illegal, it's just generally impolite.

Here is one example coming from this facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/Collectingautographsthroughthemail

"arlier today i received an email from someone.(who's name i won't mention) I posted a home address on here a few months ago attached with a success i received. The photo and address has been removed a few month ago when someone reported the photo on here and since then the address hasn't been posted. I received an email from this person stating they were mad that it was posted and they were receiving too many requests plus they felt uncomfortable having their address floating around. Along with making it clear that there will be consequences if i didn't take it down. THIS IS WHY SOME PEOPLE DON'T POST HOME ADDRESSES! The only reason why i ever did post them was not hear annoying comments about me not posting it and to help everyone out. So if you see me or any collector say "Private address, can't post" Get over it! This was a lesson learned from me and hopefully some of you who will think twice before posting a home address on Facebook or complaining it's not being posted. I'll be more picky what addresses i post and hope i won't get any disrespectful comments if i want to share an autograph without posting a "Private" address. My whole goal for making this page was too help fellow collectors out and share successes but this hobby is all about addresses. I wanted to bring this up to say be careful what you post!"

I believe that only applies to posting members' personal information, but I could be wrong.
