******A LIL' CELEBRATION OF REACHING 1000 POSTS ON FCB, IF YOU POST A RESPONCE (w/cards and prices listed) IN THIS THREAD, ON MONDAY I WILL SELECT A WINNER AND YOU CAN CHOOSE A SLOT PRICED $18 and under(if any are still available) IN THE 69+ BOX 1990s BREAK THAT IS HAPPENING TUESDAY AND THURSDAY****** (If no slots are still available, I will find something else as a prize)

I have enjoyed seeing some of the new threads and responses, so I was curious what you really would pay for some of the cards you want in your PC? Not talking monopoly money, I am speaking about the card(s) are available now (or in a short time period where you could get the funds), what would you actually pay?

So, post what card or a few cards, it doesn't matter the value, of what you really would pay a good amount (vs what someone else thinks its worth). It can be whatever, a rare insert, a "should be easy but I can't find" card, a regional issue that you can't find etc.

Curious what you guys/gals would actually pay for cards you have been searching for........

Some of mine (and I may need to go higher, but this is my baseline)

1998 Donruss Crusade Red Will Clark - $1250
1995 Score Gold Redeemed w/ Holes - $150
1997 Score Rangers Premiere Club - $150
1997 Score Rangers Platinum - $75
Assorted Food Discs, Postcards, etc I need Id pay $15-50 for

Since I have been out of the hobby awhile there are a bunch of Dawson cards I need and a bunch that I will never get, but one card has eluded me even when I was in the hobby hot and heavy and that is the 96 Select Certified Mirror Gold. The only I have ever seen is a PSA 10 on Ebay right now for $2500. Certainly Im not going to pay that on my limited funds but I would be willing to over pay on an ungraded copy.

Gotta list the $.... Btw- Make him (vintagesnowmobiles) an offer , he usually sells at a much lower rate than asking price on items that he has above market. Example PSA 10 Ozzie 93 Ref, asking $2499, sold $1100

Guessing what we would pay compared to book? Or what someone on eBay values them at?

There's a handful of immortal sweet spots I'd love to get
Drysdale is one that comes to mind. eBay listings at 300 or more never sell. Last one at auction i saw sold at 180. I'd gladly pay up to 200 for one.
Rare inserts has never been my game and most people would gladly pay more for a card than I would but I've made a nice collection for myself.

Looking for items that you'd pay an amount for that would surprise people with. (Where people would be like, wow that card sold for that..??) type thing.

Some may see this thread as a double-edged sword! ;)

People put the most they are willing to spend - then someone may hold that card for ran$om.

That was the point, not the ransom part but seeing if people will actually stand up and list prices. I hear a lot of talk about "I'd give a ton" or whatever but never see them put $ to those words

If it's available and I want it bad enough - I will get it. *For me I just don't see the point in shooting myself in the foot by listing cards that I will pay up for.
I try to be strategic with my fun money and don't need to tip a seller off here that I would pay $500 for a card that they may eventually offer or list for $100.

That being said I do have 1 card that I have squawked about wanting a few times on here and know the eBay name of the seller that won it.
I have made several offers over the last year with no response. It was purchased for $375 and I have recently offered just south of $2000.

*This is a Photoshop I created of what the card would look like.

When I was PC'ing Josh Hamilton the only 2 cards I really wanted and didn't have was the 2011 Museum Framed Auto. I won it for $200 but seller canceled the transaction. Another didn't pop up until year later. I bid $330 on it but lost it, of course he left the Rangers and his prices have dropped the 2013 Framed Auto (Angels uni) recently sold for less than $80.

The other was a 1999 Chrome Gold Refractor which is considered the Hamilton card to own, the max I could pay was $500, I never saw one listed.

Now I collect for bargains on cards I want to PC or flip. Not willing to pay at all cost prices.

2 cards I wish I never sold and wish I could buy again for what I paid.

I'm a player collector, always have been. But I don't get how much some guys are willing to pay for these. I love the set and would love to finish the base patterns, and maybe its because my guy in the set is a scrub compared to the HOFers, but 90 different cards with slight aesthetic differences printed around /10.....I just don't see the high $ appeal some player collectors are paying. The rest of your list makes complete sense to me but I'm surprised others are willing to pay more than $20 for ANY diffractor and that'd be the elite of the elite

Holy XXXX! I know what I will be looking for at shows! :^)

As for my "Whales", it's all over the board.

I collect Pacific patches in football, so there are so many cards of common players that are #ed low that I would bid/pay pretty high, but wouldn't have too.

To each his own I guess. For some reason, it seems like Barry Larkin diffractors just don't come up for sale that often. I hardly ever see them. For the longest time I had Zero of them until Rinkart sold me a couple of his doubles. I still only have 3. And in the rare cases that his diffractors do come up for auction, they usually sell between $30-$50 it seems like. Plus, I just really like them :)

I picked up that Larkin score some years back for $6 at a show and wound up selling it for like $80.

It's a tough card to find! It's the only card I don't have from 1986-1995.
