Never crossed my mind, but its definitely possible. People have paid for crazier things before.

Might be worth it for big market teams. Now I'm wondering what some high numbered 90s inserts would do with (zip code)/xxxxxx.

Statistically speaking one can formulate a numerical sequence to try and highlight a specific number to stand out (READ: garner a premium) over the others with little effort. However only very few hold any meaning to me. A 001/***, Players #/*** and that's about it. Everything else is just oddly reaching to me.

I paid a premium once for a Vanderbilt related card that was numbered 1873/2000. School was founded that year. I'd probably pay a premium for a 615/XXXX as well--Nashville area code.

Nice thing about both is that it requires by definition a high-numbered card, so it'd never be too expensive.

I know I would place a higher snipe bid if I came across a local athlete's card numbered 505/*** because that would be cool.

I tried it on a Phillies RC 215/***. Some tool posted it on Blowout. . . I don't think I sold it for a premium though. :)

that's why I said if I ran across any of the local kids with a 505/*** numbering, I'd set a snipe bid at a premium. All but one of the local kids likely would have those auctions end without exceeding a beckett hi column price (i.e. a premium price).
