I've posted about this before and also find it to be a very interesting topic - essentially how much player collectors care about their guys "checklist" and how they track and process changes, etc. Here is my take...

I use the Beckett Albert Belle checklist as the bible and 100% the official checklist for me. I also pay for player pricing (I think $4 a month) and that helps. I understand there are A LOT of cards not on there (I have a lot of them) but I have to hang my hat on something and they've won in my book for this.

Beckett does add cards periodically, more newly released cards than older cards but they do add older cards to Albert Belle's checklist from time to time. This does not bother me. I find what was added, add to my checklist, check to see if I have the card(s) and then keep moving. I actually find it fun to track and monitor. Some don't but I do.

One other point of interest, and again this is probably just me, but because of my explanation above, I do have working relationship with a contact at Beckett and reach out to him if I see something funny on Belle's checklist. To date, I've probably been successful in having half a dozen cards removed from his checklist which don't exist and having a dozen cards added which they didn't have but I was able to get them comfortable that the card exists (because I have it) and they added it.

All in all, everyone has their own wants/wishes and style... this is mine and I enjoy it. I know some probably think I'm nuts but o well... I think we're all nuts!

It isn't the BEST working relationship but it's at least there lol. Sometimes I'll write him an email and it'll be 6 months before he gets around to it but he usually always gets back to me, sometimes faster than others.

Topps however... no chance lol
