Interesting trade for sure but it does make sense for both sides.

Quick question....why do players have no-trade clauses in their contracts if they can just be waved and traded anyways? Is it so players can not be traded without their say, as they have to agree to wave the no trade clause?

I think this is a great trade for each team. I think evaluating the players as equal (or not) misses the need each of the inbound player fills for the team. I agree that if you just look at the players, they are not "equal". But, from the team need and future perspective, I think it is a very fair trade and both sides get what they need.

Yes. It puts the decision ultimately in the players hands and is a protection for them.

I'd like to know in some cases where partial NTC's are included why they choose to block some of the org's they do, but that's another conversation all together.

A lot of players will block certain clubs because they just don't want to play there, dislike the manager, don't like the franchise etc. I've also heard that they will do that with big name clubs which gives them leverage in a trade situation although I'm not sure how that would really work.

Is a Scherzer extension now inevitable?

Makes sense, thanks!
