1965 - liked the pennants with the team name and it was probably at he height of my collecting as a kid.
1955 - like the logos on these, giving them a nod over the 1956
1959 - liked the photo in the circle.

For vintage, my favorite is 1978 Topps. Simple and clean.

Modern favorite is 2005 Absolute Tools of the Trade. Great mix of veterans, HOF and current. Short prints make the set chase exciting, but manageable. Great looking set. See my bucket and find out!

1953 Bowman color hands down........crystal clear pics, large sized, vintage ballpark settings, all-time greats, no writing or logos at all. This set was a blast to collect......

Maine that is def a beautiful set I never really paid attention to the details of that card. Eventually I may have to acquire some of those.

As a kid: 1984 Topps.

Vintage: 1954 Topps. But man, are some of those pics hard to look at.

Modern: 1991 UD. And they made enough for everyone in America to enjoy it!

As for other sports, 1982 Topps. First licensed set in a while, and about 20 "In action" game pics!

1990 Donruss. First set I tried putting together buying packs as a youth. Still like the red borders and scripty writing of the players' names. Lots of memories.

'58 Topps

-Loved the colored backrounds. There are also a lot of great players with cheap cards in the set.

'06-'08 Ginter

-I like these years because of the designs. I love Ginter every year though.

I feel like I've spent a lot of time lately thinking about 1990 as my favorite hobby year. It wasn't the first year I collected as a kid (1986-87 range) but I love that smack dab in the middle of the massively overproduced era there are a string of sets from 1990 that vary from very difficult to find to damn near impossible.

• Donruss Aqueous Test
• Donruss Blue/White Test
• Donruss Red/Red Test
• Fleer Canadian
• Fleer Soaring Stars (at least in good condition)
• O-Pee-Chee
• Score McDonald's
• Topps Glossy Rookies Foil Test

Not to mention all of the errors and variations, some of which are impossible to find:

• Donruss All-Stars, Nolan Ryan, etc
• Fleer (Dave Martinez and many others)
• Topps Blackless (as well as the Jeff Kent)
• Upper Deck No Copyright (as well as the black box cards and positional variations)

So I guess my favorite set would be 1990 (fill in the blank).

The top three from my childhood

87 Topps got me into the hobby, I couldn't understand at the time why Andre Dawson was in an Expos uniform that year while he was playing for the Cubs
91 Studio, loved the design, the black and white, the portraits
92 Pinnacle, loved the inserts
