So Frank came to spring training to chat with the players.

Buck showalter asked the recent Orioles draft pick if he knew who Robinson is. Well he didn't.

Buck then told him he has one day to come up with a history of Robinson.

Not everyone who plays knows the history of the game (same way not every electrician knows much of the history of electricity) all that well but there's definitely value in learning about who came before you, what they did etc. I like it.

I understand but it wasn't like the coach was asking him "who Boog Powell is" or "who Milt Pappas" is, Frank Robinson should have been a no brainer.

When he came up, Hank Aaron barely knew who Babe Ruth was.

They make to much of this stuff. Not everyone collects cards or is a student of the game. For some, talent in a sport, is a life changer. We'd all like to think they know or care about the history of the game, but many don't enjoy the luxuries, that allow it to be possible. Most of us fans care more about the game, than many players. To them its work and business. Our game is their stress. He met an all time great and now knows, who he is. For all we know this could be josh 15 minutes of fame.

He has more stuff to worry about. Not all athletes end up playing the game they love. He may know all there is to know about another sport. Or he may not have had a dad and was raised by a mom that didnt know the game. He may have been more worried about getting through the day, than who frank is. Give the kid a break

Location
Near Philly
Plus, Hart is from near Baltimore...:(

The report I saw had him from Silver Spring, MD but that was incorrect. There's a Villanova basketball player with the same name from there...

My bad.
