Sometimes I buy a card just to have it, hoping to get a better copy. other times I see something at a good price so I pick it up.
I also pick up another copy because I like the set. My question do you guys sell your duplicates or hold them?
do you feel guilty selling cards of your guy?

I personally hate having doubles, but I do pick them up, like you, when it's a good deal. I don't feel bad about selling doubles, but I don't want to give them away, either. SOme of my current doubles:

I dont purposely try to get doubles. I usually get mine when i buy a lot of cards for just one card then wind up with extras. Having extras pays off at times because it gives you a stockpile to sort thru when you hear about a card variant. There have been a handful of those that i already owned but didnt know until i went thru my doubles box.

i have started to sell off my doubles, which i am ok with because it helps fund new cards for my pc.

I don't go out of my way to pick up doubles, and usually try to find a good home for any I do end up with. It just seems silly for me to hold onto multiple copies of a card when I'm sure other collectors out there would enjoy the card to a far greater extent than I will with a double, triple, etc.

Though I do occasionally keep lower end inserts/refractors to fill out team sets in my Pirate binders, since I store my player collections in their own binders.

I buy doubles all the time if I get them at a good price. I usually hold them for a month or two and then resell them or trade them for stuff I don't have.

For me doubles can be good for upgrades or can be used for trade fodder. I don't try to corner the market on any certain card although I have considered it. Just seems like a waste of money that could be put towards stuff I don't have.

I don't buy doubles unless it's an upgrade to condition, a better patch, or a cool serial number. In those cases I am totally fine trading off the doubles I have.

I collect a team in addition to my main player collection, so there is always stuff I don't already have to spend my money on. Why spend that money on something I already have, then?

Over the years I would by whole collections just to go after some key cards. In doing so I always say to myself, "I will flip the rest of the stuff". Well that sounds good until it gets delivered. Once it is here I can never part with it. I think my O'neill dupe collection can stand up to others main collection. I am not proud of this.

I only buy doubles:
A) If they come in a lot I'm buying for 1-2 cards.
2) If someone else is looking for it and I find it cheap
iii) I'm upgrading to the same card in better condition
IV) I didn't have my list updated and purchased same card on accident

This notice is required by law.

I don't purposely buy duplicates of good cards, although there have been a couple double buys due to poor checklist maintenance.

I do have about 6,000 RJ duplicates, mostly base & low end, from some of my early days lot buying and the occasional eBay lot where there is only a few cards I need but they're selling all 500 or bust.

I have tons of unique dupes. I have used them mostly for IP autos. The nicer, rarer ones are being set aside for a PSA submission.

I don't hoard unless it's something that is rare or pseudo-rare (buybacks, low-numbered parallels) that catches my eye. When getting back into the hobby, I picked up several very large lots of cards of my players (back when shipping costs made that practical), and that resulted in my ending up with thousands of dupes I can't move because almost no one collects Dave Winfield or Matt Williams or Dave Henderson. Typically I just want the one each to fill out the collections.
