Got some pics from my father today who went to a book meet and greet either last night up in Madison, CT. He was pretty pumped up to go and had been talking about it all month. The book store there (R.J. Julias) is a great place for those who seek to meet authors and obtain their autograph in their respective book and they do a fair number of sports figures of which my parents have sent me autographed copies of books by Curt Schilling and Tony LaRussa. The books were purchased pre-signed and apparently only the first 250 people who either arrived first or purchased the book were able to get a picture taken with him though there could be four people in the picture. He said it moved along pretty quickly and they were tight on people not taking photos of him. Nothing more than a quick "Hi how are you" kind of deal. Nothing was said about my fathers hat.

In any event, just figured I'd share the pics.

A bookplate at an in person event? Odd

Yeah there were a bunch of criteria at the thing. His agents had a group of rules, thought it was a little strange but I guess better than nothing.

Don't get me wrong, I'd take one in a heartbeat, just thought the bookplate rule was odd. What were some other rules?

I just went to look for the initial email about it that my father forwarded me about a month ago to get them and add on to my post above. I don't have it anymore but he might and if he does, I'll post them. Off the top of my head, I want to say there would be no more than 1,000 signings and only the first 250 people either there or who purchased the book would get a photo taken with him. There were a couple of others as well but I'll see if I can get him to send the email. He probably has it as I doubt he knows how to clear out his email as it is. :p

OK just spoke to my father. The books were pre-signed and it was a chance to "meet" him and the first 250 people were able to get a photo with him. Apparently it went through pretty quickly, a quick "hi how are you?" kind of thing to keep it moving.

Changed the title of the thread since it wasn't really a book signing but actually a quick meet and greet and the ability to purchase a signed copy of the book. I was looking online and it looks like he's only going to four places to do this. I guess he was friendly enough, it just moved very quickly. Just a quick hi how are you, my father told him good luck in his retirement and Mo said thanks. Nothing crazy. Apparently some other guy in line actually gave my father a small bit of a hard time for getting his picture taken with Mo wearing the Sox hat. Eh, it's just baseball......
