Bad news for the Rockies.
Nolan Arenado will be out 4-6 weeks (longer if he needs surgery) after he broke his finger sliding head first into second base today.

He was having a great season, with his Gold Glove defense, .305 avg. and previous 28-game hitting streak.

He joins Bryce Harper, Josh Hamilton and Ben Zobrist as the latest star to go on the DL this way this season.

So, did they stop teaching little leaguers how to properly slide or something? Seems like this sort of injury is happening a little more than usual.

head first slides are not tough in little league ever. And when the pros do this, they open themselves up to injury.

And with this season it appears that alot of the league has gone down with some type of DL stay

Ok, maybe not "little" league, but in senior league (pre-high school) we did it all the time in the late 80s/early 90s.

Too bad for the Rockies , both Arenado and the Rockies were having a good season. We will see if Tulo can keep them a float.

Mike Napoli's finger is still bothering him when he dislocated it sliding into 2nd a few weeks ago.

Big loss for the Rockies with Arenado out...hopefully other players can step up their game to fill the void until he gets back.

He was the starting 3B on one of my fantasy teams. My back-up was Mike Moustakis.

He joins many folks that have been on the DL for me this year in fantasy ... Prince, Votto, JJ, Grilli, LaRoache, Latos, Hamilton and now, Arenado ... yay.

Move LeMahieu to 3rd and call up Rutledge to start @ 2nd is the logical move with Culberson spelling them both since he can play both 2b and 3b.

Just checked the Rockies home page - they recalled Rutledge this morning.
