Has David Ortiz gone from Lovable to huge d-bag?

I don't follow him closely, but every time I see an interview or behind-the-scenes piece on him, he seems like a fun guy to be around. I've seen some pretty funny pieces of him joking with teammates and horsing around. He doesn't come across as a d-bag to me, seems like the kind of guy I'd like as a teammate. But again, I just have a few impressions to judge on.

This is my opinion as well. MLB would be much better off with MORE guys like Puig and Ortiz.

As for Ortiz dropping the FBomb post Boston Bombing: it was absolutely fitting. Nothing better could have been said. The raw emotion of it was amazing and I'm sure he was forgiven by 99% of those with kids in attendance.

I can't believe I'm trying to convince people to enjoy emotion and players who are entertaining. Hell, my favorite team is the Reds and I can't stand Joey Votto. Why? Because I've seen more emotion out of damn doorknob.

I don't believe I've ever instanty disliked a person based on one post... until now. For the MILLIONTH TIME, steroids were illegal! Just because MLB didn't have a rule against them doesn't mean they weren't illegal! I don't believe MLB has a hard rule against murder either but guess what, ILLEGAL! It was a prescription drug I do believe. That is not the same as illegal. There is certainly potential for abuse, but the person committing the bigger crime when a prescription is given for inappropriate reasons is the doctor IMO. Not unlike medical marijuana today. Now I am not certain whether Papi had a prescription, but my assumption is that most of the MLB players who used had one. If I am wrong about it being prescription, then my opinion of testing positive would be different.

Kind of weird that Archer didn't hit him when he came back up in the game, then mouthed off afterward. I think Ortiz overdoes the antics, but I think Archer should man up and take care of things himself rather than mouthing off in the press and turning over the dirty work to David Price.

I'm a ranger fan. Puig is good for the game too. Emotion is what makes the game more exciting. He is paid to entertain people, specifically Boston fans, and he is great at it. Pitchers should throw better pitches so they get pimped less if it bothers them so much.

This. Price started it and Archer shouldn't have opened his mouth. It happened last season, let it go. I'd have done the same thing he (Ortiz) did. He's always been a clubhouse leader.

Ortiz' bat toss wasn't malicious. Archer got his ego popped, he lost the game on that pitch, and he had to cry about it. He'll figure it out sooner or later.

As for Ortiz taking 45 minutes to jog around the bases, well, yeah, it's lame, but the guy is slow as molasses anyway, so I think that's actually his normal jogging pace. I don't believe he ever thinks he's "bigger than the game." That's just their distorted view of the guy and his actions. To be fair, pitchers shouldn't take everything so personally.

On another note, Archer should show some respect to Ortiz for what he has accomplished in the game, esp since Archer has accomplished nothing so far.

It's not about the pitcher. It's about the hitter. We wanna bag on a DH but at least the guy puts on spikes 162 times a year! These guys that essentially work 35 days a year are so entitled and think THEY are the butt end of the flip are delusional. "Which cross trainer am I going to wear today to shag BP balls?"

This isn't a new phenomenon. Pimping a HR has been around a long time. Whether it's Rickey tugging at his jersey as he side steps out the box, or Bonds and Griffey posing at a tower shot, you best turn around, grab the rosin and clear your thoughts.
