Honestly, I hope he turns into Todd Van Poppel.
Well seeing how he's not a pitcher..

Yeah I'm honestly shocked the Yankees didn't find a way to sign him. They need an impact player like him to build around now that both Jeter and Cano are gone. I did like a lot of of the moves the Yankees made this offseason but I think not signing Moncada is a huge mistake.I hope the kid does great and trust me, I am no Red Sox fan. All teams had the change to pony up, some greater than others, but put that on your GM if your team was unable to do so and you thought they should have.
YESSSS!!!!
Now. Where does he play? Does he move to 3rd when Napoli is a FA and Sandoval to 1B? That would make sense to me but I'm not sure how much experience he's had at 3rd base...I guess it's a good problem to have though.
He could, but would you be saying that had the Yankees signed him?I guess I am one of the few that am OK with the Yankees not signing him. Yes, it would've been nice to add someone like him but thats a lot of money FOR A PROSPECT. A lot of people are acting like hes the next great thing but forget that he is still just a prospect. He could very easily turn into a flop and thats 60 million wasted.
I also think that the Yanks don't need another 2B. I firmly believe that up the middle the yankees are set for years. Didi and Refsnyder (i pray to god that he works out well) will be a great duo next year once Drew leaves. Refs bat is wicked and Didi's glove is SOOO much better than Jeters.
A lot of money for someone who won't be in the majors for at least a full year and likely 2.
Unbelievable how deep we are at 3B:Even as a Red Sox fan, I questioned this signing given the price and how "crowded" the system is right now. But then I remembered...
1. It is not my money,
2. Too much talent (especially young talent) is only a problem when it is on someone else's team,
3. It opens up the door for interesting trade opportunities (say goodbye to some combination of Cecchini, Marrero and Coyle and hello to someone new), and finally
4. If this kid is what they say he could be, he will be doing it for Boston, not against them.
JP - With this signing, where would you now rank the Red Sox minor league system?

More along the lines of Jackie Bradley hopefullyYeah, I was more going on massive bust status.
Fine, Xander Bogaerts then![]()
haha. But those have been a quality 600 ABs.

<sigh> I was trying to light up the Red Sox fans dude. Bogaerts is still young, yes, and likely will improve, but he was a world beater according to anyone with a keyboard and the internet. And since this is another huge Red Sox signing with a ton of hype, I figured it was a good leap. What kind of production did the Yankees get from that position last season? Like I said earlier in this thread, I am far from a Red Sox fan but you just sound silly.
