I doubt punishing him harshly would help. I'm not a Hamilton fan but I'll be rooting for him to overcome this

This is the absolute wrong decision by the arbitrator.

This only tells Hamilton that all he has to do in the future when he wants to get wasted is inform MLB of it before he has to take his next drug test.

Wrong move arbitrator, wrong move.

Major League Baseball is mad about it. The Angels organization is mad about it. And that doesn't bode well for Hamilton's future. They're definitely going to be out to get him now.

The guy is a junkie and he's going to die of an overdose. It's only a matter of time. I hate to say that, but it's true. He has proven time and time again he is beyond helping. He'll always relapse. It's who he is. It's what he does.

And this arbitrator is enabeling him.

I just don't understand this. This should have been his harshest penalties yet. And all of you who will say that it's not the right thing for MLB to cut him loose, I believe you're wrong. I think it's the only right move here.

Let him die on someone else's watch.

100% agree

I am sick of people saying that give him a 2nd chance or whatever

This idiot had how many chances and screwed up each one

He does not care about himself, his family, his health, the fans, the team or anyone

Relapses in 2009, 2012, and now.

And we'll still have idiots that say "Well, he didn't fail a drug test this time, so you can't suspend him."

No telling how many times he has gotten wasted that we DON'T know about.

He's a habitual screw up. You can blame it on a 'disease', but at what point is Josh Hamilton at fault for his own actions?

Of course the Angels are mad about it as they saw this particular relapse as a way to get out of a contract they never should have given in the first place. They took a gamble and lost because of their own stupidity.

As someone else said, Hamilton played the game and won. We dont have to agree with it but he came out on top this time. The Angels will just have to suck it up and pay the man what they agreed to. They should have put terms in his contract that would void the whole deal or at least put in penalties for any potential relapses but they didnt. I am all for second chances but this guy should have run out of them by now. IT is time to step up and take control of his life. Others in his situation have done it and he should be able to as well providing he actually WANTS to do it. Sam McDowell, Ryne Duren and so many others have turned their life around in MLB and he can too but I think he might have to hit rock bottom before he feels the need to change his life.

I like this decision.

Instead of putting a millionaire drug addict out of work with nothing to do, they gave him something to fill his time that comes with mandatory drug testing.

Example: Cris Carter.

The Angels really screwed the pooch not putting certain provisions in Hamilton's contract.

With all the money Artie Moreno has, I'll never know why he just doesn't hire someone to be with Hamilton 24/7, whether Josh likes it or not. If he is serious about staying clean, he should have no problem having a babysitter.

Yes, because it's worked so well since 1999, right?

When is enough, enough?

Why do you think Cincinnati let him go. They didnt want to babysit (they literally babysat him) him any more especially after his rookie seasons and demanding/making millions.

I've said it before and I'll say it again josh Hamilton is an idiot. A spoiled, self centered, arrogant idiot. I know two players on the rangers teams he played for and they were relieved when he left. He was a constant problem in the clubhouse and the team constantly accommodated him at the expense of everyone else. His teammates grew resentful of the treatment he received from ownership and how he was propped up as the savior of the organization. Look around Major League Baseball and you won't find too many josh Hamiliton sympathizers, it's not because of his history of substance abuse it's because he believes that he is more important than everyone else. MLB validated this for him by treating him differently and allowing him a pass for this transgression. I don't agree with the lack of suspension. With that said the angels have also handled this miserably. As far as I can tell the angels and josh Hamilton deserve each other.
