Puckett Leaf

I think I have had it for a couple years now.

Hey Josh, I have a Puckett #/5 from the set, #10 from the set and I believe I have the "SAMPLE" from the set also...I also saw Josh that you were wondering about the Puckett 1/1 Bronze Steel 1996...A few years ago there was a set a guy was breaking up on ebay and said it was a 1/1 set and wanted a crazy amount for nobodies, but never listed the Puckett...I had emailed another Puckett collector about it to see what he thought.

I've seen a couple of your Garvey cards, so if you don't mind, let me know what else is locked up in that collection of yours featuring The Garv. Thankfully he has not had much in the way of really high end items offered. I probably saw you win most and didn't know who it was, but knew it wasn't a Garvey collector (Like the Topps Tier 1, for example).

I will look to see what other Garvey cards I have. The tier one and 2002 fotg I know I want to keep

Absolutely , but I think their going to run out of legit stuff to use before that happens. While they may have access to more low/mid HOFers/better players, those can't carry a product. And as the full sized memorabilia increases, I'm not sure the companies are going to be able to afford them wo pricing their products at a level that's too extreme. Maybe I'm in the minority , but how many Ruth , Gehrig , Cobb , Mantle , Koufax , Mays , Musial , Foxx , Clemente , and 1950s and before players etc are really going to be available to the companies?

Ryan

Well as you can see Ruth is kind of drying out. But the Clemente/Robinson/Campanella/Ted Williams/Mantle/Mays/Aaron etc. stuff is more or less endless in my opinion. I mean think about how many cards a single jersey can make

I'm not speaking of pieces , I'm talking prime pieces. And you think they're endless? How many of this jerseys 1) hit the market 2) hit the market and a card company is the high bidder ? A lot of private collectors out there. Now if you speaking coaches / old timer game etc I see a larger availability , but gamers I disagree that there are a lot available and at card company prices. I could be wrong...

Prime patches I think you're correct prime patches seem to be drying up for sure the windows are becoming smaller and smaller and the releases are becoming more sporadic. But I think there are plenty of gamers for those guys I mentioned if it's not a game used jersey it's pants or a hat I'm sure if game used stay this popular 50 years from now there will still be Clemente game used cards released I really don't have much doubt about that.

I would really love to see the card companies start using material from stars in the 50's-70's that were fan favorites and stars, but not good enough for the hall.
a few examples:
Dick allen
ron santo
jim kaat
tony oliva
zolio versalles
jim perry
dean chance
johnny sain
bobby girch
ted simmons
carl hubbell
Luis tiant
minnie minuso
bobby bonds

you can add to the list...but you get the idea

their material would not be that expensive and team collectors would go crazy! And I would just love to start chasing patches of new people?

what do you think? Will it ever happen?

I would not be much of a buyer but I think it would be a huge hit with collectors. For every person like myself there are 10 others that would go crazy. I think that would be the way to go for a while and give the other hofers a rest.

Carl Hubbell and Ron Santo are both in the Hall of Fame.

I agree that using fan favorite cards would be popular. An example I can think of is UD used Boog Powell patches in Artifacts then I never saw another prime piece in another set.

Kent hrbek was also used in artifacts, but never again.

I know they are hall of famers, but some guys in the hall are not used. Companies keep using the same guys

I was just looking for a show and tell. Most people showing off cards aren't looking to move them, so I rarely ask unless it is something really fantastic, but I still like to see what is out there that I may not have.

I will look to see what other Garvey cards I have. The tier one and 2002 fotg I know I want to keep
