Obscure player collections?

I have a few...

Todd Greene Todd had respectable ML careers. I like collecting Todd because he was playing at the height of '90s inserts and was a MiLB Player of the Year, so he had enough hype to be included in some cool sets.

Jose Cruz Jr. Cruz has some great '90s stuff.

I have a "COMC collection" of these guys. Several years back when you could snag some great deals, often for pocket change, I started to pick up rare, unusual or just striking inserts/parallels of their RCs and prospect era cards. My criteria was usually "no way I could've afforded this/I would've loved to pull this" in 1995, 1996, 1997, etc." I also watched Todd at a few subway series games and had high hopes for him.

Ah, Jeff Reed! The Colorado Rockies' own Jeff Reed! I had forgotten about him, but I do remember the old dayz when he was our catcher. Seemed like a cool guy. I had no idea he played 17 seasons in the majors until I looked up his stats just now. Only totaled 4.4 WAR, but hey, I have a soft spot in my heart for journeymen.

Yep!! Caught tom browning no hitter and has a world series championship with the 1990 reds

What a great thread! Not really obscure, more of a star that fizzled a bit, I collect Ron Gant. A few other "minor stars" Darrell Porter, J.R. Richard, Greg Luzinski. I collected Todd Hundley (another star that fizzled) but gave that up years ago.

It's been slow, most of my attention has been on my Bernie Williams and football player collections so Gant has largely taken a back seat.

Glad you shared this. I jumped on ebay to check out what he had and there was a Jeff Frye lot that I snagged.
