MLB HAS A BASEBALL ISSUE

with all the hbp and the pitchers complaining.. something needs to be done.
why they keep changing the baseballs? last year the said they used two different types of baseballs, WTF.
if the batter can use pine tar, the pitcher should be allowed. just seems stupid. end of rant.

I'd like to see some data on the baseballs after some independent testing.
I'm not sure I see much of a difference, it's also a small sample of time. Chris Bassitt was obviously a very loud voice for this, he doesn't seem to have a problem, over his career he has averaged a bean ball once every 13 innings. In 24 innings this year he's hit 2. That small sample seems normal.
Player opinions will vary wildly that's why I'd like to see independent testing with hard data.

It is a small sample but I've probably watched 60 games already this year and man it seems like there are a ton of balls that are just absolutely smoked that die 10 feet short of the warning track. There were three in the Cardinals/Mets game yesterday alone. Alonso and O'Neill both hit 105+ MPH 19 or 20 degree launch angle rockets that just died 10 or 15 feet short of the track. It reminds me of hitting the reduced distance practice baseballs. It's even evident in the outfielders' reactions to balls in play. I've probably seen 20 different balls in play that the outfielder went sprinting for the fence anticipating a home run or a catch at the wall and they had to come back to the ball short of the track to make the catch.

Part of that is likely cold weather but it doesn't seem to be affecting the minors at all and they use a different ball than the MLB one.

Some transparency from Major League Baseball would be nice AHEAD of time.

Seems like at the end of the last few seasons MLB has come out and said they had used multiple different baseballs throughout the season with the teams not having any knowledge of it, which is BS.

The Cardinals/Mets series was a mess, and I knew it was going to end poorly, and it did. The Mets are super sensitive about getting hit so much right now, and it’s completely understandable. The Cardinals clearly didn’t have any intent with their errant pitches, and it’s a shame Alonso and a few others got plunked. Arenado probably overreacted, but I honestly think he did it on purpose to fire up his flat team. Nobody got hurt, thankfully.

It did pop into my head that maybe the Mets getting plunked so much already isn’t always an accident though. Maybe other players and teams hold a bit of resentment toward the Mets (Cohen specifically) and want to kind of put it to them, for seemingly trying to buy a championship over the off-season.

The Mets aren’t very likable right now, so I can totally see other teams plunking them.

I’m here for it too. I love baseball drama.

Texas? Lol. They are just stupid and have a long history of handing out dumb high dollar contracts and it doing absolutely nothing for them.
