There's nothing else I can add that hasn't already been said, but have to chime in and say AMAZING - you had a personal singing AND freakin' cupcakes with Jose Canseco...who else can say that?
I've had much more luck finding the 2002 version than the 2003 as well. Not Grace specifically, but D-backs in general. Not sure why that's the case, but I do prefer the 2002 look, so I'm happy with it.
Wow, thanks for the post r2, it never really even occurred to me that he didn't have a bat card. Makes sense why I've never seen a Barrel then, actually makes me feel better. Even Brandon Webb ended up with a handful of Barrels, and he's a pitcher. I do have to wonder why they've never tried to...
Not looking good for Mr. Parker, according to MLBTR:
"More troublingly, fellow Tommy John patient Jarrod Parker left his Triple-A rehab start in a scene that left observers seriously concerned about his arm, as Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Parker, who is said to have...
Super pumped, will be putting some money aside to get one, I don't see this being cheap at all, but would definitely be a unique centerpiece to the D-backs collection. Go well with my John McCain card.
Yep, they responded to me right away and acknowledged they had sent the wrong one. Got to keep the base and the Blue showed up very quickly - great customer service from Burbank!
It was under the picture in the item description, where they have the year/player/brand info box. It said "Set: 2006 Upper Deck Special F/X Blue"
Good news, the Blue arrived today! That 9 year search is over, thank goodness. Unfortunately, still missing the Red checklist, but still one step...
I tend to agree with the majority, not so much the retro theme but the inclusion of retired players in so many sets. Besides Goldschmidt (and Owings of course), the guy with the most D-back cards this year and last is probably Luis Gonzalez. Listen, I love me some Gonzo, but should he really be...
I do scan with the borders of the cards touching the edge of the scanner, but I've found that the scans have a little bit of the side touching the scanner cut off. Not a huge deal for some cards, but obviously something with a border like Bowman Chrome autographs are going to have it cut off and...
Yep, emailed them right after I posted this and they got back right away and said they'd take care of it tomorrow. I thought maybe it was one of those stock photo incidents, because I know they tend to mix up parallels and base sometimes, but this one is pretty clearly listed as the Blue.
But...
Thought I finally completed the Brandon Webb run of Blue's after winning this auction from Burbank:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/311344860352?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Clearly labeled parallel in the title, its labeled Special F/X Blue in the description, and the...
Not a Ricky collector (but am a Ricky fan and enjoy all the pickups here!), but I am curious about that post on FB - I checked that FB page and I don't see that post anymore, when was it posted? Always concerning to see another Panini doubt post.
Oh yes, I'm sure I'll be contacting you down the line!
And I don't know if you looked up the MLB authentication number (it's kind of hard to see in the picture, guessing you'll have to wait until it's in hand), but my team specific tag of Wade Miley is from a Spring Training jersey, all the...
Accidentally completed this rainbow in about a week - never meant to, but saw the Red pop up last week and figured why not. Though to be fair I don't have the Base version of this, but I'll throw it into a COMC order sometime and officially complete it.
Classic pickup, it looks beautiful! I couldn't agree more - the 2001-2004 Gold Refractors are far superior to the current ones with just the border being the color.
Awesome concept, one I've been hoping they'd tackle at some point. Don't think there will be any D-backs in the set, but still excited to see them!
Though I would lose my mind for a Brandon Webb from 2003. I know the odds are slim but damn I would give anything for that.
I wonder what'll be in...
Awesome rainbow! Panini has really grown on me in the last year or so - better player selection for my collection, personally, than Topps (including Grace), and nicer designs, I think.
They usually are just sandwiched between two top loaders or in a team bag or something, and I've never had a problem.
But like the OP mentioned, I've automatically received nicer cards in top loaders without paying for them, so they definitely are cognizant of what they're sending out.
D-backs was pretty easy, except the last spot.
Randy Johnson
Luis Gonzalez
Curt Schilling
I couldn't really decide on the last spot, between Matt Williams and Paul Goldschmidt for me. Despite how good he is, and hopefully will stay, Goldy just hasn't done enough at this point to warrant...
Ah I remember that very fondly, made a killing off the dude. Picked up 3 of those 2004 Topps Chrome Uncirculated X-Fractors/20 for $10 each. One was Chris Nelson and the other was Shelton, can't remember who the 3rd was. Regardless, paid $10 for the Shelton and solid it for about $300 during his...
