I think the Ken Griffey Jr. Pinnacle card from the mid-90s (was it 95?) of him blowing the huge bubblegum bubble should make the list.
Also a mid-90s Pinnacle card, I think: Milt Thompson dunking a beach ball over the outfield fence.
That newscaster is not too hard to look at...
I'm surprised that the stains are so brown/tan. I wouldn't think champagne would turn quite that dark a color.
Re: Prospect Lot Giveaway!
Well, I'm a Nats fan, so I think I have to say Bryce Harper.
But short of that, Brian Goodwin, because I'm counting on him to be the CF of the future!
You could also have them all write TTM letters to their favorite players; would teach them how to write a letter (do people even need that skill anymore?) and use correct grammar, etc.
Only catch would be that their favorite players might be tough signers. Perhaps they could all write to Pat...
Innocent question: Has anyone ever tried including a blue sharpie with their package for Rivera to sign with? Or is there more to his only signing in black TTM habit?
it reminds me of those cards that came in cereal in the 80s with the big blank space on the hat and jersey. All that blank space looks terrible in my opinion.
Re: Prince Fielder signs with the Red Sox!!!!
Went to college with DJ. Gave him his first break writing satire at the school newspaper there...tell him Todd says hi!
And go Towson football!
They are what the package says, card-sized decals put out by a company called High 5 in 1992. They put out team specific and superstar packages with 5 or 6 players each and usually a logo card.
Beckett lists them (at least they do for Jose Rijo, who i collect). I would imagine with the highly...
My grandfather was a prospector back in the 50s and made a ton off selling your grandpa's rookie cards. j/k of course
my fav from the scrapbook scans was the autograph signed: "To Mom, with love" and then of course signed Dave Nicholson... Kinda funny, seeing it signed with his full name, after...
If anything, I guess this proves that they don't use the printing plates (at least these) to make the actual cards and they are just another manufactured "relic."
Was it ever confirmed that only the first 100 cards got Sepia mini parallels?
Same question for the Framed Bronze parallels.
I collect Bronson Arroyo and have every other Gypsy Queen parallel - one of each printing plate, stamp relic, leather, etc etc. but have never come across one of these...
Definitely not Brian Roberts... my brother collected him for quite a long time and ended up selling his really rare stuff to another Roberts collector for $1,200 (he had a ton of 1/1s, autos, low #s, plates, etc.)
Does anyone have any back issues of ESPN The Magazine from 2005?
There's an issue that ran in July with artwork of the Washington Nationals crossing the Delaware River (a spoof of George Washington...) that I've been trying to locate for a long time.
Thanks!
Washington Nationals:
Ryan Zimmerman
Livan Hernandez
I kind of feel like those two are easy. But then it gets a lot tougher.
Do I just go with the future? Strasburg and Harper?
Or go with players that made an impact during their brief time here: Alfonso Soriano, Chad Cordero or Dmitri Young?
