I'd feel pretty confident in saying that any former Vanderbilt player is very nice and accommodating to fans, though some are a bit shy.
David Price has always been a nice, open guy who will normally sign (especially for kids). Ditto for Pedro, Mike Baxter, Sonny Gray and Jason Esposito.
unbelievable. after i cancel the most recent check and tell them to stop, and that they won't be receiving it, i wake up to another echeck.
no message, no explanation, just another echeck, which i cancelled.
so, i sell an item to a low feedback buyer who pays 3 days after item ends via echeck. I later get a message that says it was declined by the senders bank (which I assume means similar to bouncing), now 5 days after, and it tells me to expect payment about a week later.
I send the buyer a...
I mean, Ziomek has had some statistical reversion to the mean (me and a friend do advanced stats of the VU team, and I could have told you that his .74ERA was not going to last--he had a strand rate of almost 90% through 6 starts). So perhaps this is expected. I still think he is at least as...
Hard to fathom Ziomek not being on the list.
I'd presume Sheffield being off it is based on a fear of the worst. FWIW, he has been playing in the field since his arm tightness. I still think he's a late 20s/Supp round pick.
I've experienced this as well. Might be the player or their family/coach/neighbor? I have to say, if I found out that a guy I PC for being a Vandy guy was buying up his stuff, and I was the only other bidder, I'd probably stop bidding on them.
Since I really only collect cards of Vanderbilt players, a lot of it really is the coolness of seeing players I've seen in the Black and Gold in pro uniforms, or that they are so good at baseball that a third party decided that they should have a baseball card. That it is a Topps card is even...
Who would you prefer to invest in, both are college pitchers, both in power conferences playing against top talent?
Candidate A:
43.2 IP, 4.12 ERA, 73k, 19BB, .175 BAA, 5HR allowed, 1.07WHIP
Candidate B:
45.2IP, 0.99ERA, 44K, 31BB, .151 BAA, 0HR allowed, 1.16WHIP.
Oh, and if you recognize...
I think of it this way: if I were prospecting for a living, ie looking to make a steady and reliable income, i would NEVER invest in pitchers. But, since it do it small time and sort of for the fun of it, pitchers are a bit more interesting to invest in.
My Daniel Norris stash is staring at...
Honestly, a lot of those reasons you've outlined are reasons I am focusing on very particular cards for my PC and not minding getting rid of some.
I mean, once I started purchasing full game-used items, my taste for relic cards (outside of ones that either look nice or are from long ago...
Yeah, I was planning a pretty hefty sale of my stash of his when he inevitably got drafted away from Vanderbilt.
I have less than JP, I think, but I do have the red paper 1/1, Jersey # Orange Ref auto, gold ref auto, 4 ref autos and 1 base.
Just remember Jaypers, David Price, Mike Minor...
How would you order them in terms of preference?
that is, forgetting their rarity or how they multiply value, what would your preferences be for BC parallels?
For me:
Super
Blue
Ref
Gold
Base
Red
Orange
Purple
This also stems from conversations I have with non-collectors, incidentally...
I could like, buy more in the future, right?
Probably the Price Super Auto. It was on the bay for a very high BIN, don't know if it sold or not. I think my whole collection is worth about that anyway, but still. Even then I don't know. I kinda like my PC, even if it is deficient in super...
Ziomek had his first bad start Friday:
6IP, 5H, 5BB, 4ER, 1K, after a perfect first 4IP. Took the loss against the Gators.
Rodon continues to be up and down.
5.2, 8K, 6BB, 2ER in a ND vs UVA.
Tyler Beede continues to give up walks and hits but no runs.
6.1IP, 5BB, 2H, 4K in a win...
So, I was reading through the backs of my 2013 Heritage cards, and noticed that on the back of my Logan Morrison #288, the third line on the back of his card abbreviates "South Atlantic League" as "S.Alt". Using traditional spelling of the word atlantic, it should be "S.Atl".
I then looked...
Why is the price difference between auto and non-auto'd superfractors so significant? I've seen it be anywhere between 2-4x the selling price. Now, I get why they'd be more desirable than red-border 1/1s, for example.
But is it just that the card is signed? And that can mean a difference...
