How would you order them in terms of preference?

that is, forgetting their rarity or how they multiply value, what would your preferences be for BC parallels?

For me:

Super
Blue
Ref
Gold
Base
Red
Orange
Purple

This also stems from conversations I have with non-collectors, incidentally. I've been wondering how folks would prefer their parallels if value and scarcity had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Related question: which of the above would you pay a premium for? For me, only the top 3. the rest I could take or leave.

I totally agree with you on the blue refractors - ever since they made their debut (2005 I think?) I've always been a big fan. Purple refractors rank higher on my list too because my team is the Rockies and having the main team color as the border just makes the card a bit more special to me.

Its probably the same order with Topps Chrome. Although sometimes Topps changes the Super design in all its products - some years the Super is better than others.

I still think supers are rather ugly so if they were equally as available as any other, they honestly would probably be at the bottom.

For me:
Gold
Blue
Red
Reg Ref
Purple
Orange
Super

Pinks, cammos, sepias all come in around Reg Ref area

To me, the 2002 Xfractor design was awesome. The cards look stunning in person. These days, it's hard to even tell if a card is a refractor.

I like Orange, but hate gold. I seem to be opposite from most people.

I used to think super fractures were boring until I pulled my first one last year and saw it in person...especially with that blue autograph to set it off! They are beautiful. I think Blue is my next favorite then red. Really hate that gold and orange are almost indistinguishable some years.

I like that oranges are consistently orange. Golds? Sometimes orangish, sometimes brownish (or flat out brown as in 2008 BDPP)

Blue is my favorite. It has everything to do with my team being Milwaukee, but I also think teams with black unis (White Sox I guess, Pirates somewhat) pop.

I'm on the Blue bandwagon too and sometimes just grab cheap ones for that reason.

Then I'd go:

Regular
Red
Gold

I own a 2006 super (in the sig) and unless they've significantly changed the design it isn't even really a "refractor". It's an etched foil finish, not a refractive foil. Personally I don't think their looks stand up to the truly refractive cards without that 1/1 "best" mystique. Anyways I've put them in this order:

Red
Blue
Purple
Green (regular green, not x-fractor green)
Gold
Regular (silver)
Orange
Super
X (seriously I think they are ugly)

I really like the Atomic Refractors they've put in Topps Chrome the last couple of years, I would probably rank those #1 if they were in Bowman Chrome.
