Sonny Gray went 6.2, 5h, 2er, 5BB, 6K. His worst outing in a while and still a quality start. Gotta think if Colon gets in some biogenesis trouble, Sonny might come up.
Since you follow this stuff, JP, who were you surprised didn't get picked (besides Denney).
I can't believe Bobby Wahl is still there. He screams quality 3-4 starter and soon. Ditto for Boldt and Andrew Mitchell.
Draft-wise this was a subpar result for me in terms of who went where. Unroe, Boldt, Ciuffo, Peterson--I would have hoped for more collected teams that the Mariners and Rays, but what can you do. Still have around a dozen watchers for the handful of their cards I have up, hopefully should...
Oh indeed. the Tigers have picked quite a few Commodores the past couple years, Drew VerHagen, Will Clinard, Aaron Westlake, Curt Casali...so he'll have some good company in ST.
It's also nice that I'll be able to see him in the NYP, provided that's where they put him.
Only downside to this...
Tony Kemp. SEC POY and an on-base machine. Gets knocked because of no college power numbers (despite good power numbers in the CCBL, wood bat league), and his small size.
I've watched him from the get go, and if he sticks at second base and can maintain even 75% of his college production...
I was actually told by Topps once that they hadn't even offered a contract to a guy with redemptions out...from 2 years ago.
When asked what affirmative steps they had taken to fulfill the card and contact the player for a contract, I was told that they had made no attempts, would not do so...
just a little joke between me and Jaypers. He mentioned once that Sonny was never known as a high K guy. He had a bad K/9 last year (bad a lot of things last year), but in college had 317k over 293.1IP, or 1.08/inning. Plus 20 in 22 pro innings after getting drafted in 2011. It was just 2012...
Not that he's a strikeout pitcher or anything, but Sonny Gray is 5IP, 1ER, 5H, 7K, 0BB so far on 70 pitches and still going. The Padres AAA team is kinda meh in terms of big league quality hitters, but still.
So, it now seems that every time I come on to the site, I am logged on to chat. However, every time I attempt to enter into chat via the pop-up box (when I'm on my iPad), my ipad almost invariably crashes.
Is there any way to have my being offline being my default? Because everytime I enter...
Piazza says he won't sign anything related to the Clemens bat throwing incident. Clemens, however, has no such disclaimer.
Challenge: who has the stones to bring that picture and ask him to sign "I thought it was the ball"?
Bonus points for, when refused, you bust out a picture of him in...
Romero v walker was impressive, but neither team has anything close to a quality bat. 1/18 starters has an average over 300. 11/18 have averages under 250.
Good outings, but very much expected.
Hes Venezuelan. Big difference in the corruptability of those two administrations. Have we ever had a scandal with a forged Venezuelan birth certificate?
The mere fact that redemption cards expire in anything less than five or ten years boggles my mind. After three years, what, topps just gets to keep them? Goodness knows thdont reinsert them into packs.
Allielooks good and all, but he is way too old for that league.
Where is Garin Cecchini in all this. He's a touch old for high A at 22, but he looks like the next pedroia/ellsbury right now.
Also, Jaypers, Sonny was a high K guy throught all his career before last year (ie, averaging more...
